Social Security Administration Imposter Reports & Reviews (446)

- Port Richey, FL, USA

I have received numerous calls from 850 409-7518 claiming to be from Social Security threatening me with arrest and demanding my personal financial information. When I back tracked the number it came from Crestview, FL but that was a scalped or cloned number. The origin of the call was actually from a boiler room operation in Tampa, Intermedia Communications Inc. This is obviously a well organized, professional criminal concern. I would not be surprised if it were actually connected to organized crime.

- Cleveland, OH, USA

I received a letter from Social Security to update my records. I wonder if this is a scam. In order to keep my Social Security they must review my case for SSI. February 8 at 12:45 PM. To see if I am still eligible. The phone number to call is 877-453-1392. I called the number. I reached a message to leave my name and number for a call back.

Called to let me know my social security number was stolen and was trying to get info on me. Name of the person was, claimed they had a case number and wanted to suspend my social security card and issue a new one.

I received a call stating that it was the Social Security Administration calling to report that my social security number had been used in a fraudulent way. "Press 1 to speak to an officer." The person on the other end is the same person who has called in the past. He asked why I called. I told him that he called me. Then he asked for my name. I told him that he should have it since he made the call. Then he proceeded to use my name to tell me that I am suspected of being involved in fraud. I told him that he had already called me and that I reported him to the Better Business Bureau. He hung up! :)

- Manitowoc, WI, USA

They called and said they were getting "complaints" about my social security number and if I did not want my "social" to be suspended I should call them immediately.

I received two messages on my cell phone from Social Security. It stated my Social Security number is about to be suspended due to some legal enforcement action. Call phone number 443-323-2417 for additional information. I did not answer or call the number back. I received another message from Social Security that my Social Security number has been suspended.

My father received 2 recorded phone calls from Social Security Administration stating that there is suspicous activity on his social security no. Recording advises him to press 1 to connect to the legal dept. He did not do this b/c he though it may be a scam. I called back the 2 phone numbers on my caller ID and it says the numbers are not in service.

- Chagrin Falls, OH, USA

Caller indicated his Social Security number was going to be suspended.

Caller alleged to be with social security administration and investigating alleged suspicious activity with some household member's social securiity number in the state of Texas. When I told the individual that I wanted his name he responded that he wanted my social security number and when I responded by telling this individual I was NOT giving such information (!) this fake con artist then said "Fine; I'll have the U.S. marshals arrest you"; this individual then hung up the phone. I then wrote the number down from my phone teleprompter and re-dialed the number (216.761.7388) with a *67 before it; a recording stated that the number had been disconnected that quickly! This is phone harassment and if this individual and any of his co-conspirators are ever caught I want to join in prosecuting him/them!

I received 5 calls this week that said they were with the social security office and my number has been flagged for suspicious activity by the FBI for money laundering and drug trafficking and if I don't call them back they will suspend my SS check. The lady asked me for my number and I would not give it so they hung up.

I received a phone call it sounded like it was a recording a very bad recording from someone claiming to be from the Social Security Administration stating that there was suspicious activity on my Social Security number so they shut it down or blocked it or something like that. I hung up so I don't know what information they were going to attempt to get.

I wanted to report a call I received on my cell phone last Saturday November 28th. . It was a live person. The phone number in my caller ID was 216-363-0029. At first they asked my name. I verified my name. Stated they were calling from Social Security. My Social Security has been suspended. The caller asked for my Social Security number to verify it was me. I gave out my entire Social Security number. Then they said we will switch me to someone else. I needed to press one to speak with that person regarding fraud. The call disconnected. I called the number back 216-363-0029. It sounded like a fax number or out of service. I thought it was Social Security.

- Laramie, WY, USA

They last asked for my name, which I refused to give them. I answered one call, no one replied once I answered, and have all those calls since. Within a couple days.
