Publishers Clearing House(PCH) - Imposter Reports & Reviews (822)

My 85 year old mother received a phone call saying that she won the Publishers Clearing House for $1,500,000. Then she was asked if she received the letter. She hadn't gone down to get her mail for a few days, so she didn't see it. She believed it was a scam, so she said give the money to charity.

However, when she got the mail, she found a letter with her name and address (see attached) That's when she believed it was real.

She called the person back and was told the check might have been destroyed, but he would do what he could do to help her. Also, she should not show the letter to anyone. She was told that she needed a tax person before claiming the money. He could arrange a tax person and she would retain more of the money, than if she got her own tax person. He also wanted to know how much money she had. She said just enough for her rent and funeral.

I went to her house, looked at the letter and knew immediately that it was a scam. Envelope had no return address, stamp came from Canada. No Publishers Clearing House logo. When I called the number, there was an answering machine. I hung up and contacted Publishers Clearing House and they confirmed the scam.

I called the number back and said do not call (used my mother's name) back because it was a fraud and it was being investigated. The person still called my mother. She told "Chris" that she knew it was a scam and hung up.

If I hadn't intervened, my mother was going to move forward with this scam.

Phone call from Jamaica saying I won the publishers clearing house sweepstakes. 1 million dollars, $5,000 a month for the rest of your life. Also included was a brand new truck. Insurance fully paid for 1 year. They had me right down a bunch of confirmation codes, saying that they would stay on line till I had the money in my hand. They then had me drive to a walmart or wal greens once there, they wanted me to go in and get a form to wire them money so they could verify for tax purposes. At that point I called the ScamPulse.com. They informed me it was a scam. When I got back on the line with the guy, he had hung up. They insisted while they were on the phone, that the ScamPulse.com was on the phone with them. When I asked to speak to them, they pretended to transfer me. The guy that picked up sounded like the same guy I had just spoken to. After I questioned the legitimacy of it, he told me to go to a K-mart and buy a G.P.S., not really sure why.

Publishers Clearing House convince my elderly father that he was in the top 50 numbers who could possibly win a million dollars. They were able to convince him to allow them to pull automatic payments from his checking account. Overall in 2015, he paid them over $1000.

I have been contacted by an individual named John Miller claiming to be the CEO of Publisher's Clearing House. I have been entering into the sweepstakes weekly and John stated that I won the 550,000 prize and the Truck. I was asked to provide a $369.95 cashier's check made payable to Vera Middleton and sent to 597 Marion Church Road, Salters, SC 29590. I was told a cop and two other individuals would be present to deliver the truck and the prize money. I told them I would give them the money in person when both prizes were awarded. They said that was not satisfactory and I immediately hung up the phone.

On Oct. 26, 2015, about 4:15 p.m. a man named "David Carter," (with a heavy Mexican accent), said I won from Publishers Clearing House a "second prize," of a possible first, second or third prize winning, he said something about winning 2.5 million dollars. He said he is calling from Las Vegas. It sounded fishy, and I reported to him I had to go to the toilet, can he call back. Before 4:40 p.m. he did try to call twice. I did not pick up. I want to report this scam. He had trouble telling me his phone number, which was 1-876-328-7538. He could not read numbers very quickly, and was slow at giving me the numbers (more suspicious). Thank-you for your help. He said "Do not tell anybody about this."

My Father has been getting stuff from Publishers Clearing House in the mail saying he is close to winning a prize and it is his last chance to enter in before they draw numbers to see who won or your number could be a winner and he keeps buying stuff from them and they keep on sending him ads saying this is your last chance to enter and he never has won anything and I would like to help stop the spam mail or at least let pch headquarters know that this is an ongoing problem with there sweepstakes
