Today, May 10, 2025, I received a letter addressed to me personally and postmarked from Canada with a letterhead of WLA World Lottery Association, 180 Maiden Lane, New York, New York 10038. The letter is dated March 25, 2025 and states the following: RE: AWARD CLAIM NOTIFICATION and includes a Claim Number. The letter is accompanied by a Treasurers Check in the amount of of $2695.90 made out to me personally. The letter is not addressed specifically to me. The writer is informing and congratulating the reader of the letter as being "one of the winners in the "NORTH AMERICA CONSUMER PROMOTION DRAW" organized for all customers of Wal-Mart , Sears, Home Depot, Safeway, etc. You have won the sum of US $450,000.00. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!" He then goes on to provide instructions to "contact YOUR CLAIM AGENT" and further informs the reader of the enclosed check of US $2695.90, "a processing fee and insurance fee of $2000.00 will be required before your lump sum winning can be sent to you." and "DO NOT ACT ON THIS LETTER UNTIL YOU SPEAK WITH YOUR CLAIMS AGENT." signed by "D. (DAVID) HAMMWRIGHT, Vice President Finance."
