Message on iPad - supposedly from Apple (looked legit?) - computer locked - do not try to use - call # supposedly to be Apple. She said they could fix it for $199 and include 2 years identity protection type service, to mail check to WEBKART LLC, P.O. BOX 162947, Atlanta GA 30321, asking what mail service I would use and the check # that would be on the check - U.S. Postoffice, asked me a good time for a feedback call tomorrow to assure everything still working, transferred me to ‘Steve’ security expert, at a company Apple supposedly contracts with. He asked for email, phone #, address, at the end, to send confirmation, etc. After I was beginning to be comfortable that it was legit, I gave him mother’s maiden name. They were slick. I know not to click on links, etc., but message kept repeatedly running to call the number, not to do anything on computer until called. I realized afterward that it didn’t feel right. I called my bank the next morning to alert them. I did NOT mail a check. I suspect it started when I saw a post from a Carly Gail, but the picture on that account was of a friend of mine. I could tell posts were not like she would have written. She talked to Facebook to resolve. The next morning is when my computer had the locked message, etc.
