I was first emailed by Silvia Valcanover on Nov. 30, who said she reviewed my resume posted on Indeed.com and shortlisted me for an online interview. I have since made my resume private on Indeed.com. I was told to contact Mr. Kalle Katajainen via telegram for briefing and to schedule an interview. I also received a text message from Silvia on Nov. 30 (phone number: 219-627-1243). I contacted Kalle Katajainen the next day (Dec. 1) and he was ready for an immediate interview, conducted solely online through telegram instant messaging. He briefed me on the company and the job duties and asked me interview questions in three batches. The interview portion lasted about 1 hour and Mr. Katajainen then said he would send my answers to his team for review and consideration and get back to me in 15-20 minutes. I was then offered the position 16 minutes later. I provided my email address and phone number (which they already had) and I provided my name and address (I live in an apartment). Mr. Katajainen said I would be issued a check "to cover the cost of a laptop, printer, scanner, [and] time tracker with high-speed internet connection." I am supposed to cash this check and use the funds to purchase software from "one of the company's certified vendors" at a discounted rate. The next day (today, Dec. 2), I contacted Mr. Katajainen to receive my daily task. He emailed me a simple task: "You are to write a well-detailed report on 'Ways to Attend to Customers in an Organization in order to ensure customer satisfaction.'" This is my only task for the day. His email is [email protected]. I looked up fortumusa.com and the domain does not exist. Also, Fortum OYJ does not have offices in North America according to their actual website fortum.com. Additionally, Kalle sent me a W-4 form, I-9 form, offer letter, and Code of Conduct document for me to fill and sign. I have not sent any of these forms because I'm suspicious of this company and I do not want to give them my SSN or DOB. They offer surprisingly generous compensation ($28.75/hour) for an entry-level Data Entry Representative position, for which I have no experience. Mr. Katajainen also says that a Houston office will be opened on 1/10/2022 and I will have the option to continue remotely after that time. He also claims that Fortum OYJ has offices in the USA but that is not apparent from the company's actual website.
