Irish gents (Michael and one other) knock on the door wearing high-visibility shirts and claim to be doing a number of driveway repair jobs in the neighborhood and want to quote my driveway. The shorter of the two claims to be fully insured, licensed, and that I'll receive a written contract detailing the scope of work. He tells me that the driveway will be torn up and replaced with new base material and asphalt from edge to edge and top to bottom. He tells me that the price will be quite low because they will be ordering the materials in bulk, so he can pass the supplier's discount to the customer. I agree to the job and he says I'll be back tomorrow with a contract. He doesn't turn up until three days later when his "co-worker" Michael comes to the door and says they will be starting tomorrow at 9am. I ask about the contract again and he says, I'll get it from the office and bring it tomorrow morning.

They come back around noon the next day to say the crew is finishing up another job and will be here shortly. I again ask for the contract and he makes another excuse. Around 1pm that same day, the crew of six or so guys turn up and proceed to slap a thin coat of asphalt over the existing driveway and leave. The job is shoddy and incomplete. All in, $2,500.00 down the tubes and will probably need to be replaced shortly.

After some after-the-fact research revealed that the company is a fake with its website set up on March 20, 2021, and of course it is not registered with the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs as a home improvement contractor.
