I placed an order for 5 hens through a lady on Facebook for $35 each. She said the price included shipping. When she dropped them off to be sent, Fedway Transport contacted me with a $300 crate rental fee. I thought this was feasible since my money was to be refunded. I then received another message asking for $450 on insurance for the animals, also to be refunded but with a typo. The typo stated they were shipping 3 hens and they hit me up asking for $300 more dollars. That’s when I realized this was a scam. I asked for a refund. The seller on Facebook swore that it was a legitimate process when I told her had I known, I never would’ve done this.

So today, I was contacted by three different people. I was told to create an account on elitetrustfunds.com. The person I was corresponding with transferred $750. I never received a welcome email or any other correspondence from this website. I reached out to the chat and asked how to retrieve my money because the withdrawal option wanted a card number to put the money on. I was told that my account was not active and it would be another $250 and then I would instantly receive the money back. I’ve never had to pay a sum like that to open an account with a financial institution. So this misadventure cost me $175 for the chickens: $750 for the transport: with a request for another $550 to receive the birds and/or get my money back. They refused to use Zelle or ApplePay. Shame on me.
