BBB Imposter Scam impersonating VP & COO Michael Sedio of BBB Pacific Southwest. Victim of the scam is believed to have lost $300 or $3000. Email contains BBB logo, "Davie Police Department" address, account numbers, and fake case number. Email text is as follows:

They said they were a attorney for bbb. They stated i received a check for 3million.and needed some money. Asked again if they were a attorney from the bbb. knowing that a attorney would not do that. They said yes they were attorney. They gave me a name stating it was his JAMES TURNER. THEY CALLED MY SMALL BUSINESS IN YOUNGTOWN ARIZONA.

The scammer said that they were unable to deliver a package due to an incorrect address. They wanted the address updated and would charge $.30 to redeliver. They wanted my credit card information. I called my post office and was told that this was a scam.

There were a series of calls (21 total!) that all indicated they originated at 1(205)858-8275 X 8008. The calls began on January 4, 2024 at 2:23 p.m. Mountain Standard time. They continued to call until 4:06 p.m. Several times, when I hung up, they called right back. The first caller identified herself as calling from the Better Business Bureau and told me that someone had tried to take out a loan for my business in the state of Michigan. I told her I didn't do business in Michigan, and I made the mistake of saying that I only do business in Arizona. She then told me to stay on the line while she submitted an order to stop the transaction. I was on hold for less than a minute when a young man with an accent (possibly African, but I'm not certain) came on the line. I told him that a young woman had put me on hold. He said, "Never mind; she's having trouble finding the information she needs." That's when I began to realize it was a scam. I told him as much, and he began to ask me, in a mocking voice, why I would say it was a scam. I hung up on him, and he called right back. He said, "What makes you think it's a scam?" I replied that I knew they were going to ask for information. To that, he replied, "I haven't asked you for information. What makes you think I'm going to ask you for information?" I hung up again. This happened several more times, with me hanging up each time. I turned on my phone's ability to ask the caller who they are calling, and the caller hung up three times. A few minutes passed and the calls began again, disrupting a Zoom call I was on. At one point, the male caller came on again, and this time he asked, "What makes you think I'm going to ask you for any f--ing information?" His unprofessional demeanor, plus the fact that they had called 21 times within an hour and a half, confirmed the fact that they were not legitimate. Also, my phone is a land line, and they were using a system associated with cell phones, so that was yet another clue. I don't have voice mail activated on my phone. They said the supposed applicant for credit or a loan was doing it in the name of my business, but they never mentioned my business by name. At one point, the male caller talked about my "advertising" for my business, and I told him I don't advertise. He was incredulous, insisting that I did advertise. I told him I get my customers (I run a school, so if he really knew anything about my business, he would have known that I have students, not customers) from word of mouth. I think you should let folks know about this scam. It is a "fishing" operation, and I suspect that it is their intention to gather sufficient information from their victims to do what they are claiming to "protect" their subjects from, take out credit, or loans, in the names of their victims or their businesses.

I received an email from the address i previously mentioned, they sent me that link to a video with an AI voiceover over clip art. Very dubious because they claimed to have received my CV from an unknown vague source.

Texted several times saying I have a package. Code to access package is 541283 and I must download the Luxer app. I am not expecting a package and am reluctant to download app without knowing more about the sender.

There was unknown number texted me to open the email contains job description. And it offered me a job as Parcel Quality Inspector which will give me fixed rate monthly income as much as 4600 CAD. I track the website and the company in the internet but somehow no legit information was found about it.

This company is taking advantage of consumers by offering high interest loans which show a particular amount of interest that will be paid over the life of the loan awhile they are adding much more interest than initially offered in the terms of the loan taking consumers much longer to pay the loan back than the initially agreed length of the loan. This company is scamming low income, in need individuals that do not speak English and confusing them into accepting loan terms they don’t fully understand. Charging interests upwards of 40% in interest. You need to look into this as I’m sure so many people, the most vulnerable people in the community are being taken advantage of including one of my family members.

I was contacted by Central Shipping Department or the Shipping Department. I was advised by Missy Harold that I would have to log on each day for $65 a day to see if I have any packages assigned to me, if so accept them. Then I would receive $50 for every package received, inspected and reshipped. $150 for attendance. I There was a 2 week hold back period before my first pay. I received several packages and I shipped back out. Payday came and payday went they never paid me! I go to tictok and Facebook and see that they are getting a number of people this way.

They even sent company logins for FedEx, ups and usps so I can order supplies which I did. There was also a Manager that reached out Helen Cross and Criss Geraldson. I had a telephone interview as well as I was contacted over the phone.

Job offer scam. I believe I applied to a fake job on indeed. Company called me 3 times in a row and caller ID said spam risk so I did not take call. They left message saying they wanted an interview with me. Also got two emails from them, one had a link that they said to click on. I looked up the company and it doesn’t exist. So I did not click the link. The address to the company is an empty warehouse. The company has no website.

I received a message today on my home answering machine. It came from phone number 717-610-0622. Mechanicsburg PA. It was an actual person. He gave his name as Rick. I did not catch his last name. He had a bit of an accent. He said he was with the Better Business Bureau. He was looking for and gave my name and address. Somehow he knew my information. The call was about a notification and for me to call him back at 717-610-0622. I did not call him back. I have never reached out to the BBB for anything. I have made no complaints. I was suspicious of the call and wanted to report it.

FB page pretended to be a US company: Libiyi_US and claimed to have orthopedic designed wide shoes targeting people with foot pain issues. When I ordered they sent/delivered damaged/defective shoes with strap or buckle fallen off so unwearable shoes and is not wide and orthotic as advertised. When contacted to report defective shoes received they gave China address to return that will cost more than the price of one pair of shoes with tracking as they've requested before refund. In short, they mailed defective shoes that is impossible to return or replace.

Their ads are all over Face Book pretending to be in the US and orthotic designed comfortable shoes. Beware.
