I was contacted by a person claiming to be a recruiter from ‘Focus People’ asking if I was interested in an online job. I replied I was, and then she connected me to another person. He offered me a job with “Beam Impact’ company. I asked about the company, he explained about the company and he directed me to the real company to learn more about them. When I asked about the job qualification, he said there was no need for any qualification since this was a remote job and all I need is a phone or a laptop. When I asked for the paperwork he said, he was just an agent for the company so he did not have it. I kept thinking it might be a scam before we started but I slowly started believing in the job.

The following was the job explanation:

[7/9/24, 12:36:30?PM] Thomas.A Training Account: This job is to help merchants increase real sales data of low-sales products, this allows the low-sales products to be seen and bought by more buyers

[7/9/24, 12:37:11?PM] Thomas.A Training Account: The name of the company is Beam Impact, Beam Impact is an international E-commerce company, we are working under the department of marketing specialist for low-sales products, they will be providing us agents with their semi-systematic working website to work on

[7/9/24, 12:40:11?PM] Thomas.A Training Account: Our daily job is to improve the real sales data of the low-sales products on the working website (80 products)

For example, if you wanna buy an iPad Pro on an online shopping platform but see both merchants selling the same price, the difference is Merchant A has a sales volume of 1124 and Merchant B has a sales volume of 541. The purpose of this job is to help merchant B gain more sales volume to be a better merchant than merchant A so that more buyers will be confident in choosing them as well

I did a training session with him. I worked on the job for a day and I earned $183 and he showed me the steps to get my paycheck. I started trusting this as a real job. I had researched the company and I loved their concept and vision.

The job:

The normal product is 1% commission, the price of the product you are getting is lower than the balance of the asset

The package sales are 5% commission, which means the price of the products you are getting is higher than the balance of the asset. When we get the package sales, we need to deposit it to restore the negative, and we will be able to carry on improving, so you don't need to worry about withdrawing our principal and commissions as soon as we complete the 40 product improving because we are just helping out the low sales volume product of the merchant's to complete its real sales data

Package sales are the products that merchants desperately need to generate data for, so even if the price is higher than our account balance, we will still come across it. In return, the merchant will give us a x5 commission

Payments:

He asked me to open a cash app account and put my money to restore the negative. Then we buy Bitcoin in the cash app, which is transferred to LBank. In LBank, we use Bitcoin to buy USDT, and then it is transferred to the company in my account to be able to continue with the job. It was all very confusing but he was helping me every step of the way.

I was cautious too but the place where I let down my guard was when he added me to a group chat on WhatsApp for recruits. I saw the messages posted by recruits like me, asking questions and learning about the job. I saw the events they were participating in, and the sales they were doing, and I started to feel confident in joining the sales event that was advertised in the job. One of the people who started a new job like me texted me asking to be my friend and she would share her earnings and kept motivating me.

I joined the 1000 USD event and ended up putting in more and more money as I was getting the 5% sales and my account was going into the negative. I had to finish a set of 40 products to be able to withdraw my cash but it never happened. I started with a deposit of $1400 and got a 5% sales, then it became a negative of $3000, so I deposited $3200 then I got one more 5% making me have to pay another $6000 to continue doing work, that’s when I knew this was a scam. All of the chats were staged. I felt devastated and heartbroken. I had lost close to $6000 in a matter of few days.

I reached out to Beam Impact the next day and they said they did not know anything about the online job. They asked me the people who had contacted me impersonating their company and I gave them the information. I contacted LBank, the cash app and they all denied my request to revert the money to me. One of my transactions was a Wire Transfer from Wells Fargo, I reached out to them and they have opened a case file for this. The impersonator still keeps reaching out to me, trying to offer various tactics to reel me in. I have stopped responding.

This is the number they have contacted me:
