Ms. ***** received an automated call from 478-788-6105 claiming her "Amazon" account needed her attention (she does not have an Amazon account). Her caller I.D. showed the call was coming from "Key Self Storage".

The automation instructed her to call the "Amazon Finance and Billing Department" at 1-800-897-5481 (she ended the call).

Ms. ***** has a 2019 phone book. She looked up the name, and confirmed that "Key Self Storage" matched the phone number (478-788-6105) listed on her caller I.D. However, after conducting an online investigation I was able to locate updated information pertaining to business "Key Self Storage". The updated business phone number does not match the phone number that was listed one her caller I.D. and 2019 phone book.

*It appears that scammers are using outdated/disconnected business phone numbers that can only be verified in an outdated phone book (commonly used by senior citizens), and identifying the outdated phone number with the business name (listed in phone book).

Once Ms. ***** felt comfortable answering the phone due to familiarity with the name and phone number on Caller I.D., the automation proceeded to ask about "Amazon".

Below is the updated information found online regarding the particular business that appeared on Ms. ***** caller I.D. and in her 2019 phone book:

Person called to inform that someone was trying to place a $995 order on our amazon account and they were calling to verify if this order was correct. My business partner hung up on them, but i am assuming that they would have asked for credit card info to double check if that was our order.

We received an e-mail saying our order had been shipped. As we didn't order this TV I called the number it said to cancel the order (18883971174). The gentleman that answered (peter) tried telling me how to contact Amazon. He wanted me to download an app to remotely access my computer. I hung up...he called back. In not computer smart but my granddaughters helped me. Again we hung up

They sent me the text message that my AMZN order id D61921PRS of a NEXON Refrigerator on 06-20-2021. If this is NOT you, Call 1*844-670-9950. So, I called they asked me if I was a family member and I said no, then a random persons name, again I said no, then they asked me who they were speaking with and I gave them my name and they hung up immediately. I then started my self defense by calling and checking my credit with the bank, equifax, and credit cards. What else do you suggest? Thanks for your help,

did not order anything called number for help they tried to get me to sign up on line was getting personal info, then they had control of my computer was able to see what I was doing, when I questioned them they got beligerent and started swearing telling me go F my mother etc. They were indian or Punjabi. Dont think they work for Amazon, you need to call the number below and check these scammers out.

Supposedly a Rocky Thomas who claimed he worked for the Fraud division at Amazon, ID #0422 phone number directly to him is:799-236-0633 claimed a woman opened an Amazon Signature card with my name and a different address with the purchases supposedly going to Steven Lovrich, address: 128 Silview Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware 19804. The purchases were for: a LG Smart OLED TV for the sum of:$3,095.89, Samsung Channel Soundbar $997.99. Email reference:735146d1g5051ad975eb6714we5a 19#. I called Amazon and they said they had no such order. This so-called Rocky told me to go to Dollar General with the code:589921534409874661 to verify who I was and that they needed a picture ID (which I did not do). I finally gave the phone to my husband and he told the man that he was a fraud and hung up on him. The shipping number is: NPT--888456-1132500. There is also an order confrimation name of": [email protected].. It also said if you did not place this order please call:1-800-972-5840 to report it to the fraud protection team. I have this on my phone but it will not let me forward it. Thank You

I get the calls from an automated line every 10 mins. One day it is from "Amazon", another day from "Apple". It indicates that there is suspicious activity on my account (I don't even have an Amazon account). It requests that you dial 1 to speak to an attendant. The attendant always has an Indian accent and there is tons of call center noise in the background. Ultimately, they try to get you to install remote access software on your phone.

Stated they were a representative of Amazon and needed to ensure I wanted to authorize a purchase of $700 for an iPhone 11. When I stated I had not made this purchase the individual said "I know, I need you to give me your full name because you are receiving this call in the event that we believe someone may be trying to make this purchase with your money". But he would not give information until I stated my name - I know this can be a tactic for getting a recording of your name. He reiterated he was representing Amazon but the number he called from is not associated with Amazon and came up on caller ID as "LECOM". I hung up and did not provide my name or any other personal information to the individual on the line.

A lady named Karlisha Booze called Ms. ******, claiming to be from Amazon. Karlisha Booze stated that there is suspicious activity on Ms. ***** Amazon account. After Ms. ****** confirmed she had an Amazon account, she immediately felt uneasy about the call and hung up.

Unsure if the 'scammer' was attempting to take money. Ms. ***** hung up before the phone call was able to proceed.

I just received a call from "John" wo stated tat he was a security person with Amazon. He stated that at 9:00 today 5/23/21 a charge of $999.00 was paced on my Amazon account. I did not order on the Amazon account and in fact was at a doctor's appt. at 9:00am.

How do I contact Amazon to get this resolved?

They say they are calling about your Amazon account, which I have never had one. They say you owe money when I hang up they call from a different number same message every 5 minutes new call same message different phone number always about Amazon

Scammers stated that someone had made purchases of I-phones worth $700 per phone told the scammer that’s impossible because I don’t use Amazon like that and I don’t have credit with Amazon then line went dead I’m assuming they hung up... I personally called Amazon no activity has been used in my account

Calls started on 6/19 and continue today (6/21).

In total I have received 15 calls on 6/19 and 9 calls so far today. They all come up appearing to be from 814-659-xxxx with varying last 4 numbers.

When answered it indicates Molly from Amazon is calling and it always goes to a call center.

I had gotten an email stating someone had bought a $1,400 apple computer off my Amazon account. Obviously I was shocked so I called the number at the bottom of the email. The number transferred me to a call center which was actually a SCAM center! The guy in the call center stated that they need to double check my credit card history so they told me to resolve this I need to go to Walmart and buy a $200 Google play gift card. I did not thinking about it and they asked for the gift card access code. I gave the scammer that thinking it would help but instead they just stole $200 from me. I feel so used and I can’t believe I didn’t know it was a scam!!! Please be aware!!

I have been getting Several phone calls for 3 month every weeks stating that there is a charge for$700. On my Amazon’s credit card. I called my card and there is no charge. I want these phone calls to stop. Not able to call that number back.

Amina called to say there was something wrong with our amazon account. I thought it was a neighbor calling on her landline phone instead of her cell phone but it was a scam.

I received a call on my cell phone from Amazon. They attempted to tell me I have an account with them. They said I have purchased $1000 from Amazon. I did not. They told me to go to my computer. When I tell them I don't have a computer they hang up.. I do not have their phone number.

I received a call stating I had made a purchase of $399 and would be billed on my card. A number(above) was listed to report the charge if in error but when I called, it seemed fishy so I hing up and called BBB. I checked anthers were no such charges on my Amazon account.

Rec’d call from yipsilanti, Michigan. Person said they were with amazon and were wanting to verify a purchase of $300 plus dollars that had just happened. I hung up. Called amazon. Amazon said they never call to validate purchases. Phone number was 734.483.8830
