The agent stated that they were from Eleras Automotive group and that they were backed by Zurich insurance. They were trying to pretend that they were from Audi until I pressed them for follow up information.

- Pasadena, MD, USA • Jul 09, 2024

letter with my full name, address, year, make, and model and partial VIN.

"Our records indicate that you have not contacted us to have your vehicle service contract activated. We are informing you that if your factory warranty has expired, you will be responsible for paying any repairs. However, if expired, you can still activate a service contract on your vehicle before it's too late."

There is no company name or address. Just the toll-free number. By the way, my car is only 3-months old. So, my warranty is still good.

Letter in the mail without return address sent asking for personal information to extend a car warranty for a Subaru Forester and demanding me to reply quickly

- Bangor, ME, USA • Jul 08, 2024

Received a mail notice stating that, "our records indicate that you have not contacted us to have your vehicle service contract activated. We are informing you that if your factory warranty has expired, you will be responsible for paying any repairs. However, if expired, you can still activate a service contract on your vehicle before it's too late." They had all my vehicle information, my name and address, and requested I contract them by a predetermined date. The notice initially looks like a communication from my dealership prior to opening, and can be mistaken as one if read too quickly.

I received a letter in the mail advising the factory warranty for my Kia vehicle has expired and the letter wants me to call them to activate coverage for my vehicle. The name on the signed letter is James Conrad. The letter states the "amount approved" is "Platinum coverage". They have my address in order to mail me the letter and they know I purchased a Kia vehicle recently. The letter is vague and not on Kia letterhead but it does note "2023 Kia Soul" at the top of the letter. At the bottom of the letter advises when phone lines are open for CST and it also states "all services contracts are through Evercare Direct". The letter looks pretty official but is vague and it did not make sense to me that my warranty would have expired.

Scammer was posing as a official representative of Toyota saying that they needed my new car VIN number and mileage to continue the already purchased factory warranty. I thought it was a legit Toyota representative until they started talking about monthly payments that I did not agree to , before they got my credit card information. After I realized it was a scam I tried to say I did not want the warranty the "manager"/rep started threatening me saying if I did not get the warranty it would be like "not giving my newborn child a bottle or nutrition" and that there was nothing I could do about it and I am already signed up with no cancellation possible. ... he then proceeded to yell at me and being very rude.... I immediately hung up and cancelled the credit involved in the transaction. The so called "manager"'s name was Julian.

After responding to a letter received appearing to be from Toyota the salesman kept pressuring me to sign up for an extended warranty for my new car. Including immediate payment for a service which he did not even give me a quote on. He had my VIN# for my car printed on the notice also to make it appear as an official Toyota notice. He was very pushy and got angry when I questioned his business. I can see why some people might think he was legitimately a Toyota salesman and could be taken in by them. I did check with my Toyota dealer and he confirmed it is a scam.

They sent an official looking "Final Notice" that included a "Registration Fee Voucher" suggesting that the car I recently purchased had coverage that was expiring if I did not reach out ASAP.

I received a letter in the mail that looked official stating that my Mercedes factory warranty had expired. It had my name, home address and car info on it. This alarmed me because this letter was out of the blue and I had paid all fees due on it. Plus, I just got the car. I called the phone number on the letter (888-307-2075) and I was about to hang up because the phone rang for a long time. A man answered and he got annoyed because I asked him to clarify the letter and I kept asking questions. He didn't tell me his name and didn't sound legitimate. I asked if the warranty would cost me anything just to see what he would say and he said of course, it's a Mercedes, then he hung up on me.

letter by postal mail demanding IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUEST, pretending to be Toyota Official Business, providing customer ID #, summary of terms _TBD by a qualified specialist coverage till 2030 year and threatning that if a customer does not get extended warranty they will be responsible for paying any repairs.

- Gloucester, MA, USA • Jun 11, 2024

Auto warranty scam. Will send faking documents looking like a $200 “voucher” despite it specifically stating it is not a check and will mail you stating that your warranty is expiring with your cars VIN and tell you to call their number before a certain date.

Vehicle service contract

- Cambridge, MA, USA • Jun 07, 2024

Presumably a phishing scam to get car-owners to provide personal or financial information by phone. Quotes from the letter sent via postal mail:

“Our records indicate that you have not contacted us regarding the vehicle service contract on your vehicle… final acceptance is subject to your ability to meet eligibility requirements… call within 5 days to ensure eligibility.”

Received several notices from an unnamed sender (mailed from 63155, a St. Louis, MO, zip code) addressed to me, regarding a Subaru Crosstrek Sport (with my car's VIN listed). Sender asks me to contact them to have my "vehicle service contract activated." They are attempting to sell me an extended vehicle service warranty, even though I just purchased this vehicle a few months ago and bought an extended warranty through Subaru. In place of a return address, they list: "2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport / Official Business / Penalty for Private Use, $300."
