I received a voicemail from an individual who knew my name, but I didn’t know who he was. I called the number back and the person answering the phone was not the same person who had called me. He claimed to be from the utility compliance department.

He stated that I needed to replace my a/c unit because the coolant it uses is no longer allowed. He tried to get a lot of information from me and said that they offer grants to people who can’t afford to replace their a/c unit. He wanted more information from me and also said that if I don’t comply I would be fined by my property tax bill. I finally hung up and called the tax assessor department and they said that it sounded like a scam, so I thought I should report it.
