I posted a listing on OfferUp for a piece of furniture I was trying to sell. A ‘potential buyer’ reached out to me to buy it and wanted to text to coordinate pickup. They sent a ‘check’ for movers and the sofa and had me deposit it so I could pay the movers too. But then they wanted me to Zelle, Venmo random numbers that weren’t associated with a moving company. I didn’t send anything. I asked for details of the moving company and the scam fell apart. Please protect yourself!
