Type of a scam Identity Theft

New name on IG: Hanuel Mun or hanuel_mun454

3 days ago he reached out to me on IG saying that my profile popped up through his feed after looking at some nature pictures - then said wanted to add me to WhatsApp under the # (825) 852-7214 and told me he lives in Los Angeles but is deployed to Cyprus on a critical mission. Knowing that I live in Canada I questioned him about his number and told him this is a Calgary, AB number. He said he needed to have an "untraceable" number due to this sensitive peace keeping mission he's on. Not knowing that I actually work for a Canadian telecom company with their cyber security team.

I play along with this chat - says all the right things, how he lost his parents when he was young. He claims his mom was Vietnamese and his dad was Korean but doesn't know much about his family, lost his mom in 2018 and now he's all alone. Continue the conversation and tells me not to tell anyone we're chatting because he'll get in trouble if his superiors find out that he's using his cellphone while on this secret mission. I contact my cousin in the US Navy and he tells me a whole different story about usage of cellphones etc within the US military.

Day 1 he tells me he loves me and I'm his one and only, Day 2 he says he feels so depressed and on Wednesday he's going to have his "final" meeting to see when he is able to get deployed back home, I continue to play along with his story - telling him I wish for his safe return. Day 3 he asks me to marry him and leave everything to come live with him in LA and that he'll take care of everything. But then 5 mins later tells me to buy him a $100 iTune or Google Play card to send to him so he can use his iPhone to track the enemy so he doesn't die in Cyprus. Well if you have an iPhone you can't use Google Play and vice versa. Then tells me once he is released he will come to meet me in person to personally purpose.

Well needless to say that's when I told him that I work for the cyber security team of my company and showed him all the websites that show how he is a fake and scammer. We'll just say that he has not responded since.

Oh BTW I sent him a screenshot of $100 iTunes card that has actually been sitting in my friend's Apple Store account - let's see if this guy attempts to use it. Too bad that the guy in the picture is also being scammed as his picture is being used. "Mun's"recent claim was that Interpol is involved and since I blocked him after sending that iTunes card he's been trying to contact me via other means and other numbers to have me unblock him.

Currently talking to him right now. It has been 2 days. I had a bad feeling so I went with my gut and did reverse image search and was horrified to see so many experiences using this random Korean guy's face. He reached out to me on Instagram. Same story and everything- lonely orphaned guy who had been deployed to Yemen on a peacekeeping mission wants to make babies with me regardless of who I am and what I do in 3 days. Wants me to move to his new house in Minnesota. The instagram account follows 1,500+ women all random no pattern. It should have been more obvious when he messaged me his sob story and mixed up "his uncle" with his "brother". No financial transactions yet. Will be seeing how it goes and blocking his [censored]. I'm so lonely right now and he struck me at my most vulnerable. I hope these people get what they deserve preying on innocent girls.

Right now his instagram handle is jas_jim0220 and he is talking to me via whatsapp +1 (254) 351-3056. Please be careful. He is not real.

I took was almost scammed by this person. He introduced himself as mun at first. It was a normal conversation at first. He told me that he’s deployed in the military for over 2 years now. He said he came to the US at 20years old and his uncle enrolled him into the army after his parents died in korea. I asked if he spoke korean and he said he only spoke a little and he isn’t good at English too because he enrolled straight into the army. Then things got weird. He started asking if I was married and have kids and he asked if I had a boyfriend, which I do but I enjoy making friends online to started talking to him. He started talking about marriage and how his like would be fulfilled. I also said he really wanted to leave the camp. 2 weeks of talking to this guy he tells me that he has a final meeting on Sunday to see if he is one of the selective ones to leave the camp. Sunday comes along and he messages me and said he was one of the selected few but he had a concern, then he video calls me in which I didn’t pick up, but now thinking about it…I should have picked up to see who this person was! He started telling me the his commander advised him to send the medal and call to a relative or a friend cause the camp is not safe. He sends me pictures and videos of the medal, him receiving money, his colleagues praying and how damaged his lodge was. It all seemed so real. He was very adamant on sending me this medal and cash for me too keep until he got out on May 25. He also said he’s coming straight to meet me so we can get to know each other and maybe get married. This guy sounds just like the tinder swindler. Thank god I have a best friend who cares about my well-being. Be careful girls!

He goes by the name John LM Seung on WhatsApp and Leonard Mun. He messaged me on instagram under the username @leonardmseung5 I also found another account @mun.leonard. Used very sweet words lol.. Really took his time almost 2 months to get to know me before he dropped the bomb on me that he wants to send a large amount of money to me and that one day he'll come visit me to pick it up once he has left Ukraine.

His story was that he is deployed in Ukraine right now on a peace keeping mission. He was waiting for some "final meeting" to determine when he could go back to Miami in the States. Miraculously he was approved, sent me videos of him holding cash and all his colleagues around him celebrating too. He told me he had to send it to a loved one and I was the only one cause his mom had passed away and he was not in contact with his dad who abandoned him.

He said he was 35. I was almost convinced. And I'm usually a very skeptical person but I was recently heart broken so that probably affected my judgement skills.

Whoever the real guy is.. he's really good looking. I hope more people can know about this guy and don't fall into his trap. These are the pictures he sent to me. There were others but I deleted them before I could find this site to share. But the pictures of the house he sent and the story that his best friend cheated on him with his girlfriend while he was deployed matches other peoples' stories.

He added me on instagram under the profile name johnmark118. He said that he is in Syria on a mission. He's 29 and birthday in April. Parents both passed away due to fatal accident when he was like 9 or 10. Uncle was suppose to be his guardian but all his uncle wanted was the assets his parents left for him. End up his dad friend took him in who happen to be a military priest which interest him in joining the military. Lucky for me, he didnt or atleast not yet, try to scam me. Maybe because i told him i was almost scam by another guy? Who knows.. talked to him on whatsapp under the number +1 (502) 801-8968 and its under a business account. Not going to lie, he does sound like a nice and sweet person. Randomly try to search the profile you guys mentioned here, seems like there is a lot of profile especially under the name 'Jaiyong'. It would be sad if the real person image got used to scam others

Hi im also a victim of this so called Dae Jung Moon. He is a US navy and deploy to Iran. We've been chatting since October 11, up until now. I've known his scam when he said hes going to send his documents to me. When he said hes going to send the documents to me it brings chills to my spine and knew he is a scammer. What I did is that i sent receipt and as if i already sent the money to the bank account of the custom who holds his parcel for me. For over 2 weeks we've been arguing about the money, because i keep on telling him I can't produce that big amount because im just nobody and penny less. But he keep on insisting that i will borrow money and he will just pay after i receive his parcel. What i did, i told him i loan from loan shark and it has 20% with in 5 days. And when i sent the receipt they keep on arguing with the agent what happened why there is no reflection on the bank account. Hahaha his confused because the agent send the bank transaction history to him saying no money hs been wired to the account and in my end i also show him the receipt with the transaction history of the bank online. And then i bluff that there's an error to the account number that i sent and i need to contact back the bank to get the money back. His so disperate to get money from me, that even tho, the loan shark will get my kidney if i don't pay within 5 days. He is just insisting that his documents are more important than my safety. LOL i just keep on laughing with our conversation because i don't know what will be his reaction if he'll found out that i already knew that his scammer. How could a government will compromise their safety because they need to send the package to someone of the government can do that. It will be much safer if the government will keep their documents. And secondly their customs are very fishiy providing personal account to send the money, LOL again. BTW we are still chat matte now because im bored and I want him to feel how to be scam as well😂😂

I was almost scammed by this Manipulative [censored]. We contacted me through Instagram his username is @hyeonmichael a US army deployed in Syria for a mission. He is so kind, thoughtful, sweet and anything a perfect guy could ever be. he said he is working on his retirement because the camp is not safe anymore. It's only been 4 days since we've known each other but our conversations are really serious. He then told me that the united nations approved his retirement and could leave the camp in 2 weeks, he really sounds so happy and ai was happy too. He told me that something is bothering him because the government of syria rewarded him and his patrol a cash 350,000USD to be exact and that his problem is the camp is not safe and they advised him to send the money to someone he trusts through a door to door delivery company and that's how he asked for my help. He wants me to receive his money. That's the time I got really suspicious because how can a person who you only met on online for 4 days can trust that amount of money? He's really begging me because he really wants his money safe but I did not give in until I found this site and read all complains. He's really a jerk. He's good in playing with your emotions by being such a perfect guy.

This guy in the photo may or may not be aware that scammers have been using his photos on social media to scam other people. The scammer has been using his photos in INSTAGRAM it looks legit but it's not unfortunately. He told me that he is a military and is deployed at Yemen, a week later he told that he's redeploying to Iraq for a secret mission and he needs to send me a package. But I need to pay $3,500 for the airport clearance fee for the package to go through customs. This scammers are really good at it too, it's not just 1 person who's using his identity there's alot of them and they are working as a group. Be careful everyone!

I, too got scammed by thus guy. We met at koreancupid.com last may or june of this year, then started texting thru kakao app. His name at Kakao is Oliver, and he told me his real name is Oliver Liam Sato. His bday is Sept. 24, and he just turned 47 this year. He was in Australia for a vacation and when we 1st talking/texting and by a month and half later, he asked to borrow money to return to Houston , TX where he resides. He was so convincing with his antics that Im ashamed to admit, that I believed him. About more than a week ago, we supposed to meet In Dallas, TX and that he was a no show. and since then I have my doubts . He still sticks to his excuses why he didn't meet me due to him being detained by homeland due to some company trouble that he was in way back in 2017. So today, I started googling some sites that can help me locating online scammer and I came across to this site.
he needs to be captured and be put to jail for his online crimes.

Hi...i'm a 26 year old woman.This man contacted me firts with Instagram then WhatsApp.He name is Micheal Mun.His parents are dead and he is the only lonely child.I really didn't think that He was a scammer.He is so kind on words,very polite and understands me very well.He said he was on duty in Syiria and wild be back on the 19th of this month.And will visit me first in Indonesia.I event told my parents about his kindness and he will come.But the funny thing is my parent don't approve of us.So,i said he didn't have to come because my parents would kill him.Then i cut our thies with a letter.I said nice and maybe he will cry reading it.I'm very very suprised by your article about him and he is a scammer.OMG.i have deleted my WhatsApp with him and in it are some of my photos.I had suspected him from the start.I should not be careless.Can you help me..I really want to slice him.I apologize to the real Mr.Mun who is currently having a private life out there.Maybe we can help him deal with deal with the thief of his photos.I really grateful that i found you guys.Keep up the spirit of uncovering crimes.
