"We are pleased to inform you that you are one of the winners in the "UK & NORTH AMERICA CUSTOMER REWARD SWEEPSTAKES" organized for all customers of Wal-Mart, Sears, Home Depot, Safeway and ASDA for the fourth quarter, Q2, of the year, 2017.
You are entitled to a guaranteed taxable sum of $120,000.00 (in Certified check), which will be delivered to you by courier service (FedEx or UPS) or by wired transfer.
Enclosed is a check of $4,600.00, being part of your prize. This amount will enable you to offset the statutory tax of $3,850.00. The tax is payable to your assigned tax officer/office as stated at the end of this letter. Tax is paid in four separate installments of $950.00 each.
You are therefore advised to contact your Claims Representative: Mr. Paul Simon or MsRita Brown on Tel:+ 1-8772137809 or + 1-4166629354 between 9:00 hrs to 17:30 hrs (Eastern Standard Time) Monday through Saturday for instructions on your payment, quoting you Reference Number.

There is a reference on the bottom of the letter to "Tax Offices: Fabian Festus, 34 Duke's Road, London, UK."
I am certain this is a scam. They sent what looks like a bona fide check for $4,600.00 from JP Morgan Chase Bank in Syracuse, NY.
Please let me know what to do. I figure I should tear the check up and I have done my duty to alert you to this apparent fraud.
I am sorry to not attach the letter-don't have a way to do so in my house.
