I went to this website VinHistoryUSA.com to look up a vehicle i was purchasing, they had a 1$ one time vin search so i chose that option.

A week after my card was charged for 29.95$ by a "Cb vinhistory".

then next month same charge and the 3rd month i noticed this charge. I immediately flagged it with my bank, reported previous months charges as well and cancelled my card.

I’ve been trying to contact them and getting my money back, but they’re not responding to me all they say is a standard email and then never reply

- Phoenix, AZ, USA • Apr 02, 2026

This company, VinHistoryUSA.com, offers 1 dollar VIN lookup, claims it is a one time charge, yet signs you up for a subscription service in which they take 29.95 a month from you. Despite attempts to cancel they continue to attempt to charge you.

- Cypress, TX, USA • Mar 27, 2026

They at vinhistoryusa.com initially act as if they charge $1 for vin lookup then go on to continuously try charging your account over and over for the full amount of $29.95, even after canceling your subscription. You try emailing them at [email protected] and they just ignore you when you ask for a refund.

I visited vinhistoryusa.com and purchased a vehicle history report that was advertised for $1. There was no clear or obvious disclosure that this purchase would enroll me in a recurring subscription. Shortly after, I was charged approximately $30 on my credit card without my authorization, bringing my total loss to $31.

I did not knowingly sign up for any subscription or recurring billing. The website appears to use misleading tactics to enroll users into ongoing charges after a low-cost initial purchase. I attempted to contact them at [email protected], but they are not responding or refusing to issue a refund.

They have not refunded the unauthorized charge, and I have already disputed the transaction with my bank. I am reporting this business, vinhistoryusa.com based in CA, USA, for deceptive billing practices and unauthorized charges.

- Manakin Sabot, VA, USA • Mar 25, 2026

A website stole my credit card account information and signed me up to have a monthly membership, which I did not authorize. When I attempted to call and cancel, I was met with an incredible hostile and rude customer service member who continued to threaten that she would not terminate my account and that she had the authority to continue to charge me on a monthly basis. These are deceptive and unfair business practices.

This site, VinHistoryUSA.com, lets you check a vin number and see previous history. They had a deal for a trial for 1 week for $1. We cancelled on day 6. They then have charged $29.95 every month since September and when we called to cancel we were told no. They said they would not cancel & have fun being charged every month. I've lost $179.70 in total.

- Collinsville, OK, USA • Feb 21, 2026

Absolutely a scam!! We've never even signed up for this business VINHISTORYusa.com, I have no clue how they steal your information. We bought a pickup and I wonder if the deals hip did it or we did purchase a carfax report. I had never heard of them before but we get billed every month for $29.95. It cannot be canceled when you dont have an account with them!! Business owner needs put in jail for running this absolute scam!

I was attempting to find information about a license plate/car of someone at my daughter's school. I paid $1 ("with the ability to cancel") for the report, which was nonexistent. After attempting to cancel by the means on the website, via email, I received a response from "Jack Kenny," that said, "If you would like to cancel your subscription, please use the cancellation/unsubscribe link in your initial email. If you have any other questions or need other assistance at this time, let us know." After three different attempts to cancel the subscription, I received a charge on my debit card for $29.95. It was flagged as fraudulent by my bank, I called and confirmed that it was, and they recommended I call to confirm the cancellation with the company. I tried and received an out-of-service Verizon voice. I called my bank back, and they put a stop-payment on the charge, hopefully flagging it so I will not be charged in the future.

I used the website and it told me I was to pay $1 for their service of showing me a vin history but charged me $30 and signed me up for a monthly subscription

- Pittsburgh, PA, USA • Sep 24, 2025

I tried to do a VIN lookup, paid $1.00, nothing was coming up, kept saying owner could not be found (I am owner). Did an online chat, they refunded my $1.00 since nothing was done and cancelled account. I was still charged $29.95, did another online chat and they said they can try but no guarantees. They state on there site they will do a refund if you do not get the info needed-----clearly that is not the case.

- York, PA, USA • Sep 12, 2025

I did not make any subscriptions to vinhistoryusa and they have tried charging my card at least 4 times and I have just received a new one and they tried again I do not keep money in my account so they were not able to go through with it

- Harrison, AR, USA • Sep 05, 2025

A company on a website advertised free VIN history then tries to charge for the results

- Fort Bragg, NC, USA • Aug 27, 2025

Website allowed to make profil long enough for you to pay. Has no method to cancel "subscription".

- Walkersville, MD, USA • Aug 17, 2025

I canceled my subscription on June 24, 2025, and even received an email confirmation from the company. Despite this, they continued to charge me $29.95 through PayPal. When I contacted support, they ignored my proof of cancellation and told me to “use the cancellation link” from the original signup email. This feels like a scam designed to keep charging after cancellation. Others should be cautious before signing up.

- Evergreen Park, IL, USA • Aug 11, 2025

I attempted to use vinhistoryusa to search a vin history. I never received any information. The website says you cancel before the 7 day trail period. I attempted cancel right away. Upon following their directions to cancel via their website I received an error code. When you call the number listed you're put on hold for about 1-2 minutes then it disconnects. Each month there is a 29.95 charge with no way to cancel.

- Emeryville, CA, USA • Jul 11, 2025

What started as an accidental subscription has turned into a membership that cannot be cancelled. I signed up to view the VIN history of a car, but when I tried to cancel via the website I found there was nowhere on the website to cancel memberships. When I emailed the company I received an autoreply to find the cancellation link in the original sign up email. However, I never received a signup email. I’ve tried messaging them via there chat, calling them, but no matter what no one replies, only auto responses.

ordered a car accident report online from vinhistoryusa.com and I was supposed to pay only a dollar for the one report but I have to sign for membership and if I do not cancel within 7days my card will be charged $29.99. Well, the next day I tried cancelling by calling 1(202)751-4073 but the phone number is not a working phone. I tried to go to their chat room and nobody answered either. I email [email protected] to cancel my membership/subscription and somebody responded to follow the first email I received to cancel. I did and I hit unsubscribed and after I submitted a pop up said “sorry we cannot cancel your subscription, contact us”. So far they already charged 5 $1 on my credit card that’s why I called my credit card company to send me a new card and stop anymore payment from this site. It is a scam! Now the site has a different phone number listed.

- Baltimore, MD, USA • Jun 30, 2025

I used Vin History USA to pull one vin number in March of 2025. They have since then been charging me $29.95 a month since April until June 2025. I spoke with two people, Anaya and Lisa, and they said that I was only able to get refunded for this month because I've never tried to cancel. Although that's not true, I provided them with my request ID number, and I also provided them with phone logs that stated that I've been trying to cancel since April when I noticed the first charge of $29.95

This company runs under the guise of supply a history report on vehicles. It asks for $1 for a free trial then $29.95 for a subscription fee if you keep the subscription. However once the report is “generated “ it has no information about the vehicle report and immediately tries to charge your account again. I figured that was odd and went to cancel my free trial however when reaching out through email, phone and chat I was unable to cancel the free trial. Then every day afterwards vinhistoryusa.com tried to charge $29.95. In several email exchanges I stated I wanted my free trail ended and they sent a link that didn’t work and refused to cancel. So here I am now telling everyone NOT to go to this company. It is a scam.
