I googled vin history for a motorcycle I bought. This was one of the links that came up. I went through the process and what was returned was basically nothing on the bike. It didn’t even show the ownership. After I paid $4 for no useful information, I attempted to unsubscribe like the disclaimer at the bottom of the email shows. There was an error message saying to contact them. When I tried to press one to unsubscribe it just hangs up. When you press the associated number to talk to a live agent it just rings and rings until it says that no one can be reached and goodbye as it hangs up on you again. When I sent an email, there was a general reply to use the email that was first sent. And that got me nowhere either except back to the same error message. When you try to chat with the love agent…..it took awhile and then when they responded I couldn’t text back without needing to add an additional texting feature……luckily, my bank reached out to me when they tried to charge to 29.95 for fraud and I told them about it. The company has not been able to charge me so far…..

I used their one dollar vehicle vin report. They said, if you cancel within seven days, you won't be charged the 29.99. I canceled, and they still charged the 29.99. I called them. I chatted with them and I emailed them to cancel five times and each time they said they would cancel and they didn't.

The website claims to provide accurate vehicle history (similar to that of CARFAX). You are charged $1 for a trial membership, with claims of it being an easy, hassle free cancellation process. However, the VIN entered for said vehicle showed no accidents/prior salvage. This vehicle HAS a prior salvage title! I was also charged an additional $1 to download the report. There was no where to cancel the trial membership and online chat was initiated. From there, I was directed to a website link to supposedly cancel. The link gave a message that it was unable to cancel, then provided an email address. When emailed to request cancellation, I was instructed to email yet another email address. When this one was emailed requesting cancellation, they acted like they could not find my “membership”, even though the member ID they provided was given. They requested personal information such as credit card number, billing address, etc. I refused to give them anymore personal information, stating I used PayPal (for this exact reason). They already collected my name, address, and telephone number when the order for the fake report was taken. They stopped replying, and I filed a fraud report with PayPal.

This website comes up as VINHISTORYUSA.COM but then charges you under CARINFOSTORY.COM (comes up page not located) and the CARINFOSTORY.COM page does not have a website or a redirect page back to the VINHISTORYUSA.COM to cancel. Even the email address is deceptive instead of [email protected] it is [email protected] (leaving the A out) which is unusual for most websites. The only way I figured out who CARINFOSTORY.COM was, was to go back to my Chrome browsing history on the date they charged me and noted that I never visited a website called CARINFOSTORY.COM but visited a website called VINHISTORYUSA.COM. I called VINHISTORYUSA.COM and asked them if they charged as CARINFOSTORY.COM and a foreign person confirmed that they indeed charged as this business. BOTH ARE SCAM WEBSITES AND MAKE IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CANCEL.

Signed up for a $1 report on a VIN I needed to know about (https://vinhistoryusa.com/). I was charged $1, but then was charged $25.95, however they did not tell me about the $29.95 charge until I saw it on my cars statement . I had called the week before the trial ended. I then tried the online chat which never responds. I also emailed and said I had contacted the ScamPulse.com and my card to place a fraud notice. Then someone named Jack responded that I need to reply to the original email. But when I replied that I don’t have the email and could I get a link sent. There has not been any reply in their behalf.

Purchased a subscription trial offer for $1. for a vin history on a jeep i was buying. Product received was not what i was told or expected. I used the web site link to cancel, which did not work. The log in page did not let you log in and the customer support chat line gave you the run around. after finally getting through i was told that my subscription was canceled, 2 weeks later i was charged 29.95. after several emails and phone calls i finally got ahold of a live support person, she was very fast talking and hard to understand with her heavy accent. She told she put in a ticket to have it canceled and i would a conformation email. needless to say i received nothing and i cannot get through on the phone, emails are auto respond and chat line lies to you. I am now 3 weeks later fighting with cc company and still nothing from vinhistoryusa. i have file with ScamPulse.com and federal trade commission

You can do a simple search through Google and see the hundreds of negative reviews, complaints filed, and stories of being continually harassed by this company as they refuse to give refunds, lie to the customer about confirming their cancellation confirmation as they wil continue to bill you anyway. It’s the same scam routine they pull on everyone that makes the mistake of falling for them being a legitimate legal service. These people running this operation belong in jail. And they have several LLCs tied to this “Global Informatics” parent company. We all have a very similar story.

- Homer, LA, USA

They offered free vin lookup but then asked for $1.00 for trial subscription. They then asked for more money to actually see the report. I should have read the reviews first (usually do but failed this time). One reviewer said they do not really cancel when you call and ask them to. When you try to cancel by the telephone number, when you choose #1 it hangs up. I chatted with someone via their chat site and by email and am waiting to see if they continue to charge my card. For safety i may go ahead and cancel my card.

VIN number website will charge you a subscription fee and give you errors and bad information when trying to unsubscribe. Do NOT use!

- Woodland Park, CO, USA

Undisclosed and unauthorized monthly subscription fee scheme. I paid $1 for very basic single VIN history report. I did not authorize a continuous monthly subscription or service. My credit card company recognized this as a common repetitive scam and now has to change my credit card numbers.

- Saint Paul, MN, USA

I went online to find a free car history report. This article by US News and World Report (which also now looks like a garbage site) published free VIN check sources. I decided to use the VINCheckPro recommended in the article https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/advice/how-can-i-get-a-free-vin-check

Upon a google search VinCheck Pro becomes VINHistoryUSA.com which I entered my information (credit card and VIN #) and received no report. I am unable to cancel my account and scammy "subscription" on the website.

- Sayre, PA, USA

I got charged $1 for a car history report. Was super generic info so I added on a $4.95 one. No other information was added. A week goes by and I get an email that I was charged $29.95 through PayPal. I go and look and this company signed me up for a subscription I never agreed to. The site says contact live chat to cancel subscription. Live chat told me to email them. Many emails later and I only get a generic message stating to unsubscribe to end subscription through email that I received. I never received an email. So I call. Get told no one is available so leave a message. Called again today and they told me they can only cancel subscription and can't refund me. I've even filed a dispute with PayPal and it got denied. Numerous others have had same issues.

- Newport News, VA, USA

Advertised VIN history at low cost. The site says it is possible to cancel within the 7-day trial period, which I attempted to do multiple times. The cancelation process loops to an email that extends to a website with a cancel link, which generates an error message that says to contact the vendor. Calling to cancel is very risky; I hung up after it asked for the numbers of my credit card, which they already had.

- Bradyville, TN, USA

I was looking up a vin number. This website said I could get a report for $1 so I got a report. I paid with paypal. Then I have had 2 payments taken out of my bank account for $29.95 each for last month and then again today. I had no email or no notice that this was going to happen. I contacted their email and just received a reply from a Jack Kennedy to click on the initial email link which I never received. I don't even know what country they are in and the report I paid $1 for had no information. I don't believe they can get my personal information from Paypal. At least I hope they cannot.

- Los Angeles, CA, USA

Recurring payment scam on a website so broken you don't even know if your transaction went through, no means to cancel online, did not respond to emails to cancel.

Looking to block the requester on PayPal.

- Brooklyn, NY, USA

They will advertise as a free service, then surprise you with a $1 fee. This actually signs you up for a subscription that is impossible to cancel.

- Atlanta, GA, USA

Vendor would not cancel my subscription, which was only supposed to last one week.

After 10+ tries via email, phone, website, etc. and verbal confirmation that subscription was canceled, I still received charges.

I had to cancel bank card 3+ times and am still receiving fraudulent charges

- Chantilly, VA, USA

They charged two reports on Vin History (different versions) at $1 each. However, the report has no information on the vin history of the vehicle.

- Lebanon, PA, USA

VINHistoryUSA.com claims to offer a $1 VIN report. I did receive the report however they automatically signed me up using my credit card for a monthly subscription that I was not aware of. They continue to charge you $29.95 until you catch it.

- Lubbock, TX, USA

They claim to have a VIN lookup for $1 for a trial but the information they supply is useless. If you want the VIN information you have to pay extra. I decided to cancel my subscription but the person (Jack Kenny) said to hit the cancellation link in the initial email. However, they never send one. I followed the directions on the website for cancellation policies and it says to email, but as soon as you email the contact info you automatically get an email that states to use the link that was originally sent to you( which does not exist even after I asked for them to send me another one). I canceled on the automatic phone number and got a message that stated it was cancelled but I was charged again. I have spoken to the online chat now and they gave me a link to cancel but it didn't work: they then told me to send an email to [email protected] and Jack said to me if I want to cancel to use the link they provided in the initial email. They just keep making you go in circles. It is totally a SCAM!!!
