Travel Scam Reports & Reviews (54)

- Gainesville, FL, USA • Jun 27, 2024

This company is a scam that operates under different names: Russian tour America, Amerix tour operator and Sonata International corporation. The same owner from Ukraine operating all these businesses You will not receive services which they are advertising. You will have a bus driver instead of a tour guide and you will be placed in a rundown hotel. If you say that you will complain they will issue threats against you. This company has no customer service , and they provide the worst experience ever. They have fake reviews on their website, and you will not find any reviews on any other sites because they are a scam. I have pictures of threats and we will be pursuing charges against the fake business.

On Friday, June 7, I was searching for airfares on https://www.cheapflights.com/, which lists fares through a variety of sites, such as Priceline and Expedia. The lowest fare returned was through SmartCheapFares.com ($181.21). I booked my flight on their site (https://smartcheapfares.com/), providing full legal name as it appears on my driver's license, my date of birth, my full address, my telephone number, my e-mail address, and my full credit card information (account number, expiration date, and CVV code). At 7:08 pm EST I received an e-mail confirmation with a booking reference number of 7328. The e-mail stated I would receive a confirmation email once the booking is confirmed and a ticket has been issued. After receiving no further communications after approximately a couple of hours, I opened a chat session on the SmartCheapFares website during which I was told I would receive a confirmation e-mail within 24 hours of booking the flight. At approximately 3:00 am EST Sunday, June 9, (approximately 32 hours after booking the flight) I opened a new chat session on the SmartCheapFares website during which I was told I would receive a phone call after 9:00 am EST. Shortly before 12:30 pm EST, after not receiving a telephone call or e-mail, I opened a new chat session during which I as informed I would receive a call in approximately 50 - 60 minutes. After approximately 90 minutes, after receiving no telephone call or e-mail, I opened a new chat session and explained the history. Someone said "Please allow me a moment to check." No one responded after that. I had the chat session open for approximately 1 hour and tried several times to get someone's attention, but no one responded. Although I do not see that I have been debited for the charge, I anticipate at least a charge for the $181.21 without receiving a ticket and anticipate other fraudulent charges.

Have been receiving calls regarding my timeshare with shell vacations and RCI for a while. Took the call and was told I have 6 vacations I haven’t utilized. Which is true. If I would give them the usage fee of roughly 500.00 each they would guarantee me 1600.00 within 90 days. But I hade to do. A minimum of 4 weeks.

You are directed to them to book hotels through Trivago. You get your reservation at the time. They cancel it and then they still charge your card and they keep your money !

- Suwanee, GA, USA

I googled Global Entry and filled out ALL my info. So they have ALL my info. My date of birth, email address, DL #, my passport #, my current and previous addresses and employers.

Trying to cancel flight tickets and get refunded. Scammers ask for payment to upgrade tickets to refundable.

Lost money $ 762

After that they are asking for copies of my passport and of my family. But I did not send.

The scaring thing is that I called an official number from American Airlines website and they picked up. Thought I was talking to AA.

- Corona, CA, USA

Promised a cruise for two nights on Margaritaville, and 2 nights on Grand Bahama Island. They lied. Then found out it was 2 nights in Fort Lauderdale. Then when I tried to book, they ping ponged me back and forth between Take a Break Travels and CRS. None of them would refund my $$.

Bogus attempt to sell travel package

- Atlanta, GA, USA

Recover letter in mail that promised to complimentary round trip airline vouchers& 2 nights at one of over 1,000 Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatt locations. No website listed on the letter, which is extremely unusual, especially for any legitimate business. The letter has a big Wingate By Wyndham and logo at the bottom right, and “Event Location” under it.

- Lynchburg, VA, USA

They sent this scam via postal mail. Only identifiying info on return is T.E.S. 2024. You open it up and inside is that 800 number advertising som dining voucher etc

- Haleyville, AL, USA

They identified as Delta airlines. They booked my flights. When I checked my credit card statement I was charged $1850.98 for the service. Not for my flights. Delta & KLM said it was a scam & to report them. They misrepresented Delta airlines.

Thank you

Received mail that offered free hotel stays, free meals, etc. Did not explain what we had to do. Call the number because "offer will expire" in 48 hours. Call to number was unanswered. Scammer appeared to be registered with travel and leisure show in Atlanta, but no further information was given. Used Embassy Suites logo and mentioned all major airlines but Delta.

Received letter in mail inviting me to call and receive complimentary airline and hotel valued at$980.

- Alpharetta, GA, USA

Received a US Mail solicitation to receive (2) complimentary tickets to attend Travel Exhibit 2024. No location for this event was given, but for attending we would ". . .receive (2) complimentary round-trip airline vouchers. These vouchers are valid within the continental United States departing from most major international airports." In addition we would "receive (2) nights at one of over 1000 Marriott's, Hilton's or Hyatt's. (Option to extend) The retail value is up to $980." Very similar wording to the scam that the other person sent. The flyer went on to say that the first 50 callers would also receive a $100 dining savings card good a several listed restaurant chains and provided a phone number (855-549-0722) to call with a claim number. Flyer/Letter was signed Rich Allen Travel Exhibit 2024. I didn't bother to call the number so don't know what might have come of it. Considering that no location, dates or times for this Travel Exhibit 2024 were given I had to believe it is/was a scam.
