I received a jury duty scam call from (*** ***. I thought it was legitimate because I never receive calls on my home phone number. The caller identified himself as Sergeant *** ***s with the St Louis Sheriff's Department and said a jury duty notice had been sent to me at a property I own in St Louis, MO. He said I missed jury duty and there was a bench warrant out for my arrest. I told him that wasn't possible because I am a registered voter where I currently reside in Virginia although I was born and raised at the address. He told me that he did see my current home address annotated as Virginia (he read out my current address correctly) but that I would still have to pay $623.80 until the issue was cleared up. He asked if I could get someone to come pay my fine at the kiosk at the Sheriff's Department at *** *** *** ** ***s (he would meet them outside). At first, I thought it was one of those prank calls from the radio station comedians but realized he was for real. I asked for something to be sent to me in writing but was told that if the fine wasn't paid today there would bench warrant put out on me today and on Monday I could talk to a judge. When I asked for his phone number he gave me the *** *** **. He eventually put me on hold so I could speak to his supervisor, LT Smith. After I hung up I called the real St Louis County Sheriff's Department to report it and they told me that they were aware of the scam but there is really nothing that they can do. I am the property owner for the address Sergeant Daniels stated the jury duty letter had been mailed. I'm guessing the scammers got my contact info (including the home number that is rarely used) through public r*** *** ** ** *** * *** * *** ** *** *** ** ***
