Today I received a text on my business phone saying that I had an appointment with a client who I had never heard of before. I deleted the text and reported Junk Text. About an hour later that client who I didn't know contacted me and said she got an email saying that she had an appointment with me and that I charged her account $3500. I returned her call immediately and said I had nothing to do with this appointment or credit card charge. She could tell right away that I am a legitimate business and that I was a target just like she was. She called her cc company and they did show the pending $3500 charge. Somehow she discovered it had to do with Square, the payment processing company being hacked. I do have an account with them. I contacted them and my bank to alert them both. I am concerned that scammers are impersonating my business and taking money from unsuspecting strangers to my business which would affect the integrity of my business.
