I posted a motorcycle on Craigslist.org and received an email from "Martin" stating his interest. Eventually it got to the point where he sent the email:

"Thank you for honest answer. Also, Thanks for offering me VIN. However I don't want to obtain it myself because if it's bad then i just lose my money, but you can still use it however it turns out. I’d like to recommend you if you can use SpyVin - because they're way cheaper than carfax, and you know how it is, every penny you save counts. If the report is clean, I would like to proceed with the deal.

I hope you consider this and get it, hope to hear from you soon, Martin"

At which point I attempted to verify the legitimacy of "SpyVin" and thought that it was a scam.

Posted an add on Craigslist and got a reply via a Craigslist reply email. Wanted a VIN report using a suggest VIN website https://spyvin.com. Googled the website and nothing came up. Assuming this is a scam to either get money paying for the report or just getting then VIN for the vehicle itself.

I posted a motorcycle for sale on Craigslist and received a message from someone that seemed legitimate. After several emails back and forth, the person asked me to get a vehicle history on a specific website. It seemed fishy, so I didn't do it.

Selling my motorcycle through Craig’s list. Was emailed by James porter saying he was interested but wanted to know if I had a history report on the motorcycle. I told him no. He sent back a email address SpyVin .com that would be cheaper than all the rest. I did purchase the report which was not accurate and also gave personal information that I should not have. Canceled my debit card afterwards.
