I attempted to locate this law firm by performing a Google search. There is a law firm by this name and the firm has the same phone number and address as that which is listed in the letter I received. However, I am not confident in the search results. I fear this may be a scam so I have not reached out to this law office.
The letter reads as follows (cut & pasted):
“My name is Sophia Will ms I am a partner at Sophia Wiliams Divorce and Family Law Group, in Ontario Canada.
Apologies if my letter canne to you as a surprise, since there has been no previous correspondence between us. There is af: unclaimed "permanent life insurance policy" held by our deceased client.
The transaction pertains to an unclaimed "Life Insurance Policy" ("LIP") savings monetary deposit in the sum of Eleven Million, F ve Hundred & Fifty Thousand, and Three Hundred United States Dollars.
($11,550,300.00). The ›licy holder was one of our clients, Late Dr. Anthony Lattin
, who was a Real Estal Investor and precious stone dealer. He was a Covid-19 Victim, who died about 2 years ago. Since His de ith, no one has come forward for the claim and all our efforts to locate nis relatives have proved unsuccessa
The insurance company code stipulates that "Insured Permanent Policies" not claimed must be turned over to the abandoned property division of the state after 2-3 years.
Therefore, I ask for your consent to be in partnership with me for the claim of this policy benefit, in view of the striking similarity in same last name and nationality with the deceased. If you permit me to add your name to the policy, all proceeds will be processed on your behalf. I wish to point out that I want 10% of this money tote shared amang charity organizations while the remaining 90% witt be shared between us.
