- Greenbrier, AR, USA

I received a couple of phone calls across a couple days time span stating that my identity was being tampered with and the local law enforcement should have contacted me. I ended the calls when they asked for additional personal information. When I called the number back to ask detailed questions the calls were disconnected.

- Saint Louis, MO, USA

They trying to get people to say the SSN over the phone to use their Info in some type of scam. I stated the SSA won't call you. They hung up.

I received a call from this number saying that my ssn was flagged and then connected me with an agent. This man had a strong Indian accent and told me his name was David Johnson. He was exaggerating his accent so that I couldn't understand certain words he was saying. He told me that my SSN was being used in a different state, gave me those addresses, and said that there was a warrant out for my arrest because my SSN was now associated with drug trafficking. He gave me his badge number and made me think I was on a federal line and that the information was being recorded. When I started to get skeptical he gave me this address: 601 Security Blvd, Baltimore - as if that mattered, I was on the phone! - also that address doesn't exist once I googled it!. He then wanted my consent to inform the US Marshal that I was not involved in this suspicious activity. This all started to sound crazier and crazier and once I started mentioning that I wasn't sure I believed him, he got more and more aggravated and reminded me that if I didn't do anything, I would be arrested. He wanted me to list all of my assets so that he could compare them with the "bogus assets" from the fraud. As he spoke, I googled "Social Security fraud" and these reviews came up with the same thing! I immediately hung up.

They want you to take money out of your account and get all these prepaid cards to give them number over phone. *** *** is supposed to be a chief investigator. They say they gonna send a person to your house with a new social security number and to activate the cards to put money back in your account. Could you check this and let me know if it is real

- Toledo, OH, USA

Received a call which left a voice mail from 210-463-4776. Automated message states that "there is legal enforcement action filed against my social security number for criminal activities and to call the above number. I returned the call from a different number other than my cell. Male caller who answered (foreign accent) answers stating he is "Office William Ross." He asked my name which I would not provide and asked what it was concerning. Male then hung up. I googled the number and others are getting the same call as well.

When they answer the phone they do not say anything. I sat there for a minute and male said "Hello." I called back and went to automated message that states, "thank you for calling social security, your call will be recorded."

Person or personal poses as a relative in Facebook. Told us of their good fortune and said we should apply for the same kind of grant that they got awarded. Gave us a link which sent us to a Facebook businesses page titled Social Security Administration. They said we qualified for a grant and needed our address to send an application. Before they would sent the application we needed to pay for the taxes on the grant.

they were trying to tell me that I have a problem with my social security number and to call a number. I did not get the number that they told me to call

- Hopkins, MN, USA

This number called our main office line stating they were the Social Security Administration and there was an issue they found on "my" social security number and to call them back. They gave no way of taking me off the do not call list, so I called back. They answered stating they were the SSA and started asking for my information. I began to repeatedly call them and tell them taking advantage of people is wrong. Hopefully this helps someone.

I received a message on my phone claiming my social security number had been suspended due to suspicious activity and was asked to call *** to clear it up. I figured it was a scam!

- Austin, TX, USA

Person called stating that my SSN account was frozen because of suspicious activity. They said there were several warrants out based on addresses in Austin and El Paso having to do with Chase Bank, Bank of America and others. They said money laundering and something about Mexico. They said police went to the suspicious addresses having to do with my SSN and the local sheriff confirmed some suspicious activity having to do with paperwork and bank information.

At this point I said "I think you are full of crap" and they said "oh yeah well you are a *** ** * ***" and hung up. I gave them only the last 4 digits of my SSN which is easily obtainable anywhere at the beginning of the call as I was unsure about the nature of the call. I am glad I did now. The conversation ended before anything serious happened but I am sure they would have asked for credit card and other information had I
