SL Finance Reports & Reviews (50)

They called me after withdrawing from school. Stating that they got my information and could help with my loan payments leading to hopefully balance forgiveness. However after a year I've seen no adjusts to my balance. So I was to do $199.80 for 5 months and now its $39, but they still expected to continue charging me for 240 months. Especially since i was paying the dues before they contacted me. Now with the payments being paused, you would've thought that they stop charging me. Now I seeing all these reports I know I probably wont receive a refund .

Devyn stated by phone he was contracted with the Department of Education and that I qualified for a student loan forgiveness program that allowed me to make 5 payments of $199.80 for 5 months and then payments would be reduced to approximately $30 monthly for two years (based on income information reported) and the remaining outstanding debt would be forgiven by Department of Education.

This was alleged to be conditioned on documentation I provided to corroborate program eligibility. I never submitted the documentation but they began auto debiting my account by check.

Received a call and they Offered Student loan forgiveness but had to do

Loan consolidation. They took all my info and made me provide them with a card number for the payments. I looked into it and it’s a scam! They have you do the payments and in the end they don’t even help you. I don’t want them to take any money from me. I emailed them and told them they did not have my permission to authorize anything on my behalf and requested them to delete all my information and place me on the do not call list. They had all personal information and I don’t want that shared with anyone or use in any way.

SL finance stated that I qualified for student loan forgiveness, and if I paid 5 installment payments, then I would be forgiven On student loans. I didn’t know that they were a fraudulent company.

I got a call from SL Finance and thought it was a legit forgiveness program until I found all these complaints. I signed documents with them already so now how do I cancel my documents. I have since switched my debit card to my bank so they no longer have access to my account. But what do I do now?

Did you ever figure out what to do with the sign documents?

I was reached yesterday and now I see it is a scam. What should I do

PLEASE BEWARE! This entire business is A SCAM. Don’t fall for the professional website. More and more of these businesses are popping up during a pandemic and stealing the money of vulnerable people. This a service you can do YOURSELF by going to a government website and applying for consolidation. The difference here is you will be giving SCAMMERS all your personal info (bank, school info) under the guise of “debt relief” only for them to redirect the monthly payments to themselves. The only positive reviews here are left by their own families and friends I can say that for a fact. If you have been scammed by them I highly suggest you call your credit company/bank and file a chargeback on grounds of fraud and please report them to the FTC, BBB, etc.

This business is a school loan debt relief “service” that claims to relieve student debt. They illegally ask for bank information, school information and then redirect the victim’s payments to themselves (in another review I’ve read a victim tracked where their money went and found out it was deposited into a gift card possibly to hide their tracks?). They trick people with their professional website and even went as far to name their business after a similar company who was recently sued called “SL Account Management” in an effort to fool potential victims into believing that all the bad reviews are for “SL Account Management” and not for their own company. More of these businesses are popping up during a pandemic and stealing the money of vulnerable people. Most people don’t realize that this a service you can do YOURSELF by going to the government website and applying for consolidation. The only positive reviews here are left by their own families and friends I can say that for a fact. Please do something about these scammers. I know some of them personally and they are bragging about making 6 figures off of this scam.

SL Finance claimed they could consolidate and forgive a portion of our daughter's student loans. They stated we would pay a series of up front larger payments then, after five months, the payment would be reduced to a modest amount for 240 months. The total paid would be about 25% less than the amount currently payable. In realty, they did consolidate the loans under a government program (which we could have easily done without their help), but it did not include any loan forgiveness. In addition, all the monies paid and to be paid to SL Finance were for their "fees and services" and were not applied against the balances of the loans.

I received a call from Brandon Marks who said he was a agent for SL Finance and was calling regarding a government student loan forgiveness program. He knew details of my loans, said this would consolidate them all and walked me through the complete process. He also sent (email) copy of legal documents showing the total amount of student loan debt and the payment plan of 5 installments of $199.80 beginning in Jan 2022, it looked so legitimate. I tried to call the company (800-995-1988) over the holidays but no one ever answered and was hung up on after being on hold for a long time. I even tried Brandon private # (256-333-9174) that was on my cell and there was a very weird message that didnt make any sense. I called my student loan organization and they never heard of SL Finance and was told it was a scam. I then researched here in BBB website and saw many cases that were very similar to mine. I was fortunate in that the cc info I gave him was cancelled due to other fraudulent charges, so they have received no money from me. Its sad that there are these sick disgusting people out there hurting other people who are just trying to scrape by in this life. DO NOT FALL FOR THE SL Finance Student Loan Forgiveness program its a complete scam!

Decided to give the scam number a call just to see what their plan was. Guy on the line said he was from "SL Finance" and would relieve my student debt (I have no student debt lol) for an upfront fee of just under $200. I was approved! (somehow, with the made-up info I gave him). He gave me this phone number to call: 1-800-995-1988, extension 1007, and to ask for "Mark." Decided to google them by the number "Mark" gave me and saw how many people were scammed and how hard they're trying to pass as a legit business. Of course, when I asked "Mark" if it was a scam he promptly hung up.

I was contacted by a third party company that said they do student loan forgiveness. They had said I would only have to pay 199$ payments for 6 months and then they would drop my parents to $20 a month. He then asked for my FSA ID (which they should never, I didn’t know that before hand) I gave it to him and he sent me a temporary code and he used it to sign in. He sent me documents which had my SSN on it as well as all my other info. I signed it all. He then asked for my credit card number for my payments. Afterwards I called FTC and they said it sounds like a scam. Just warning everyone!

I was contacted via phone and was told that my student loans were eligible for forgiveness. I was to pay $199.80 for 5 payments cutting

my loans in over half the balance, then I would pay $58.60 for the next four years paying it in full. They knew the amount of my student loans, the school I went to etc. It's a shame for us hardworking Americans to be scammed and taken advantage of while trying to better our lives and in the middle of a pandemic .These guys are good scammers and hackers, they should not be allowed to be in business at all. Be Aware of SL Finance.

I did contact Isaiah on several occasions to request a receipt for the payments and a 0 balance statement but never replied.*******During the period I was dealing with SL finance my husband was dying of pancreatic cancer and i asked him to also contact Isaiah not knowing it was a scam. Their website is still up but no one responds to inquiries.

Isaiah Harris called me soliticing my business to consolidate my student loans. Told him I was already in income based repayment plan. Said he could get my student loans forgiven. All 36515.00. Said all I had to pay was 4 payments of 199.00 Paid the first one then paid the rest in a lump sum. Decided to call Great Lakes regarding my student loans. Was told If they ask you to pay a fee up front then it's a scam. I called and asked for the payment to be reversed from their end as payment hadn't posted in my account yet. Isaiah refused. Told him I didn't wish to hear him lie to me any further and that I just wanted my money back. He refused saying he couldn't do that. His promise was to get all of my student loans forgiven. He didn't do this. I have disputed it with my bank and will fight this fraudulent activity from this end. This is wrong and more laws should be on debit cards.

They are not at that location. I tried to have them sued and their gone. But I found them and am taking legal action.

This company left me a message saying that I had to complete some steps to be eligible for student loan forgiveness. They claimed to be the US department of Education. I call number back that was provided and they tell me they can reduce my monthly payment. They reset my password on Federal Student Aid.gov website and ask me for code. Then they create a contract so that they can submit the information for my application. They have you sign a contract and give you a fake number to call that just continuously rings and noone answers. When you call and talk to the orginal number called that worked ( 833) 270-0777 they act like they are a different company and there are different branches. I let them know who I called and what company and then they redirect you to the line that noone answers. They say they don't have you in their "files".

I thought this company was legit to help me pay off my student loan in a payment program I could afford. It’s a scam and they stole my money and they keep trying to take money out of my account. Thankfully, my credit union blocked them and reported them as fraudulent.

I just got a call from them and when I returned the call the girl answered "hello". I than said I got a missed call from this number about student loans. She than said "Oh!, My name is Jennifer from... Blah blah blah". So sadly I have her my name and address, my last years income which was not even correct because I couldn't remember. Than she said she was going to load into the federal loan department to verify the schools I went to and the loan amount. She asked what email address was connected to my student loans. She than said a code will be sent to me and I needed to read it back for security purposes. So I read the code back and she mentioned that the email addresses are not the same for what's connected to my account and my student loans. It dawned on me that... If this is a student loan place they should have free access to all of that WITHOUT having to get my login and the code... OR needing to change my password. She was asking for verifications and I kept telling her to hold on I have to verify something. I googled the number and saw the scam alerts. I than started laughing and said... "You sick [censored]ing human being! You obviously don't have a heart scamming people during this time and who are already dealing with financial issues."
She than said..." Ummmm... " And hung up!
I quickly went to my emails and let them know I didn't change or approve changing of my account password and I reset it quickly

I have been receiving calls on a regular basis from SL Finance stating my student loans have been flagged for stimulus relief and loan forgiveness. The voicemail states this is available to all loan statuses, including those in repayment or garnishment. The VM is always left by the same agent “Jennifer Paul agent 2578” and to call 202-960-4548. I have called this number back on 2 occasion’s and am directed to A live agent you begina requesting personal identifiable information regarding my student loans. Today the agent identified the corporation as SL Finance and calling regarding student loan forgiveness. I informed him I am on but federal and state do not call lists. He hung up before I could request to be removed. This is also what happens last time. This is a violation of FTC regarding DNC, in top of being an illegal scam offering debit relief to federal garnishments.
