I am a professor at the University of Texas at Austin, and I received an email from this person that began with the following, "As an employee of University of Texas at Austin, you have access to financial advisors to help you with your retirement and investment questions." The person was trying trying to get me to make an appointment for investment advice and their language was designed to give the impression that they are affiliated or endorsed by the University of Texas at Austin. However, when I checked with our human resources department, I was told that this person has no relationship with the university. I believe that they are misrepresenting themselves and this is highly unethical.
