This person advertised that could build an enclosed patio for my cats - a catio- the advertisement was on Craigslist. We discussed the project via phone and agreed on a style and a price. He wrote up an invoice and provided me his business license. He asked for a $1000 fee for the materials for the project and told me it would be installed with a 2-3 week time frame. This is all in writing via text and also on the invoice. I have documentation of the project cost and when it was supposed to be delivered and I have documentation of him saying he would come build it then making excuses why he could not (x3) Once he was paid he would respond via text but has not ever come to build the product/project he "sold" me. He has told me multiple times that he was coming on a certain date then changed it and has made the following excuses, his worker wasn't available, he moved and got behind in his work, he did not get the correct wire he ordered. It has been 4 full weeks and he has not provided any services and has not built the product I paid for. He claimed it was mostly built but could not send pictures supporting this. I was scammed and this is my own fault but I would like to help prevent this from happening to someone else.
