Type of a scam Online Purchase

I purchased a miniature dachshund from a website called Sarah's Dachshunds. The site showed a small number of dachshund puppies that were available. I send the breeder an inquiry through the website's contact information. I was contacted via email by Darlinda Courter the next day. We exchanged communication about the puppy and about our family situation to see if our home was a good fit for the dog. I provided general information about our family and our housing situation. We were deemed a good fit and proceeded with the sale. I sent $750 via Zelle which was to cover the purchase and delivery of the dog. I was told that the breeder would make all the arrangements with a private pet delivery agency and that the dog would be delivered the next day. I provided the breeder with my name, my wife's name, our address, and my phone number. The day of delivery I did not receive any tracking information from the breeder and was not contacted about delivery as had been discussed. I contacted the breeder and was told that they were finishing up the final details and would be contacted by the delivery agency within the hour. Shortly thereafter I received two emails from American Sweft Airlines, one with a tracking number and one stating that the dog had been dropped off in a crate that was not up to standard for flight, so I would need to pay a $1199 deposit that would be refunded to me upon delivery. When speaking to the "airline representative", he continued to insist that we needed to pay for the crate. I cantacted he breeder and said that we would not pay for the crate, so to complete the transaction, they would need to pay the fee. They asked me to pay half. I said no and requested a refund for the payment made. No refund was given and no further communication has occured. It is my belief that both the Sarah's Dachshunds website and the American Sweft Airlines companies are fraudulent sites.
