I happened to register for the BLS renewal course a week prior to the actual date. Everything seemed ok till I wanted to know the address, I happened to come across the instructors name on google and saw many comments about this instructor, I wish I had looked at it before signing up for the class. The day that I was scheduled for the class I received a message from Alton Taylor asking me to call him something related to the class. When I called him, he had said he has to change his tire at Walmart? Lol who gets a tire change from Walmart? And that he had told the other two students as well for a reschedule. He sent an email with an "e-card" stating that I had already taken the training class and that I can show this to any program or employment. And he kept on insisting me on the phone to open the email and click on the claim to do a reschedule. I did not. Everybody please learn from this lesson. I wish I had looked up this guy beforehand. And AHA needs to take action for this scammer who uses their official site to scam others.

Alton Taylor has scammed me out of $75.00 to renew my BLS. I attempted to contact him multiple times since the original class was cancelled in February of 2021. No response at all.
Hopefully more people don’t waste their time and money on this scammer.

I took this "class" for CPR renewal for the nursing program. I spent my last 75.00 to complete the course. To my surprise I was called the day of the class and was told since this is a renewal I would not have to attend. Alton explained that he would just send me the card via email. This was not acceptable to the program. So I filed a dispute with my Bank and this complaint. What a terrible way to scam people who are looking to help those in need.

I wanted to become a CPR instructor so I signed up for an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS instructor class with Alton Taylor via the AHA website in October 2020. Alton Taylor sent me an email message titled “AHA BLS Instructor Course” with a link to his website: “Safety Response Unit” and instructions to pay $350.00 for a 7-hour long BLS Instructor class. I also spoke with Alton Taylor on the phone and he stated that he would connect me with a Training Center (TC), Alton Taylor emailed me the Instructor Candidate Application form asking me to ‘please complete,’ which I emailed back to him with BLS Instructor specified. All correspondences (via phone, text, and/or email) with Alton Taylor where only about becoming an AHA BLS Instructor and nothing else. Also included in the email from Alton Taylor was instructions to click on the link he provided to complete the $350.00 payment. The link was for his website ‘safetyresponseunit.com.’ I completed the payment as Alton Taylor had instructed via the link to his website that he provided, emailed him a copy of my receipt and a copy of the $350.00 class on his website that I had purchased and asked him if there was anything else that I needed to do besides complete the BLS Instructor Essentials Online training prior to my class with Alton Taylor. Alton Taylor stated that I was “set and ready to go.”
On the day of the class I arrived early and 1/2 hour after the class was supposed to already have started, neither Alton Taylor or any other instructor had shown up. Alton Taylor then proceeded to chat with me on Zoom and after that, stated that the next step for me was to be monitored while I teach a class. In November and December, I had contacted Alton trying to obtain all needed requirements (instructor training class, instructor card, classroom checkoff) to become a BLS Instructor. In November, Alton provided excuses of having had a ‘medical emergency’ and in December did not call me back as he states he was going to do when he accidentally answers my call while he’s driving, or returning my multiple voice messages, multiple text messages, or multiple emails. The last time I tried to contact him was in January 2021, but I have not heard back from him since early December.

Recently, I have also found on line proof that this is not the first time he has scammed anyone. He has a history of not showing up to class and not refunding the money that the prospective student(s) had paid in good faith for training by Alton Taylor to become a CPR instructor. I believe that he thinks because he put down a different middle name on his email address (which he can easily do because it is his own website), that he is above the law, not traceable, and not responsible for his scamming actions; yet he is clearly connected by the website link he had provided and the email address: [email protected] with his name on it.
I have not had any class with Alton Taylor and since December he has not returned my correspondences (text, phone, or emails) or my $350.00. According to multiple instructors/training centers all classes must be in person and the potential instructor student must perform a skills test out in person in front of a BLS instructor prior to become a BLS instructor themselves - none of this was done (Zoom is not allowed).

Alton Taylor presents himself with a website and cpr instructor classes on the American Heart Association's website then fails to actually present any proof of certification. Paid $400 for AHA BLS instructor course. The night before he cancelled the class. Two weeks later he met with me in San Jose's law library (he was doing cpr classes with an older couple) to go over details but never gave proof of being certified. However, gave me all AHA materials and told me I would get proof after I sent him roster etc. Still no proof and he continues to lie to say it's just taking the training center a long time to process. Also calling the American Heart Association today to report that he is using their website.
