Phishing - Fake Warranty Scam Reports & Reviews (27)

- Arlington, VA, USA

No email used on the double-sided postal card to contact, just the 8004135452 phone number to contact

- Woodbridge, VA, USA

Attempted to “renew” home warranty. I was unfamiliar with this company.

Now they have my full name. Address, phone number, and email. I am afraid they will sell my information or attempt to get money out of me

- Alexandria, VA, USA

Received a mailing that implied my home warranty was about to expire, other side of post card said "Count Deed Records". Person named Jaime answered the phones and was very deceptive. They also gave a registration and PIN number for my account. An elderly person could be very fooled by this!

- Hanover, PA, USA

Today I received a third "FINAL NOTICE" since September, 2023 requesting I call 800-692-4491 to sell me a home warranty. The phone number is different than the number on the first 2 FINAL NOTICE mailings. There is no company name, just Home Warranty Department.

- Highland Mills, NY, USA

I received #2 letters threating to revoke my mechanical service coverage on my vehicle if I don't respond via phone in 5days. The letter states to call 1-888-271-7262 with VIN and current mileage before May 10th.

The scammer mailed me a letter that said Final Notice, IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED. This letter was regarding activating my home warranty.

Letter said: It is important you contact our office at 1-877-671-1027 upon receiving this notice to avoid any unnecessary delays in your coverage before 04/24/2024.

Ended with:

We reserve the right to revoke your eligibility for service coverage after the expiration date of 4/24/2024. Please respond immediately by calling 1-877-671-1027.

Sincerely,

George Walker

Program Director

They find out you bought a new car and they send a letter warning you about service contract and warranty expiring. They ask you to call to offer warranty. The dealer said it is a scam . The have sent me three letters so far.

I called the name on the letter that I received, which was "James Miller, Program Director". I spoke with two different representatives, and asked to speak with James Miller directly. The first representative asked me for the customer ID that appeared on the letter that they sent me. I gave them this customer ID, and then asked to speak with James Miller directly. I was disconnected after holding for a few minutes. With the second representative, I asked to speak with James Miller again. The second representative asked me what it was that I wanted to ask James Miller, and I told her that the language in the letter seemed misleading. It mentioned a fictitious home warranty that I had secured with my bank. Somehow they knew my name, home address and the bank that we were using for our home. The letter went on to say that if I didn't take action immediately then this fictitious home warranty would expire.

- Fort Belvoir, VA, USA

Received letter in the mail regarding not having contacted them to have my vehicle service contract activated. No other contact information listed on the letter other than ther phone number and their hours of operation.

- Brentwood, NY, USA

Received letter from Home Warranty Division (no company) stating "It is important you contact our office at 1-877-671-1027 upon receiving this notice to avoid any unnecessary delays in your coverage before 03/19/2024...You are receiving this notice because your property's home warranty at [specifies my address] Secured by [specifies my mortgage company] may be expiring or may have already expired"... Fine print at bottom of letter says "Superior Home Protection is not affiliated with your current mortgage holder. Home Warranty Administered by Warranty Global Group.

- Haymarket, VA, USA

I received multiple letters stating my vehicle service contract was about to expire. The letter was poorly crafted and did not appear legitimate, but I had recently purchased the vehicle described and it did in fact come with a service plan. I did not call the number as a quick search did not return a Toyota website.

The scammer sent me a postcard with the following scary deceptive message concerning my brand new (30 day old) Sabaru:

"Our records indicate that you have NOT contacted us to update the factor warranty on your 2024 Subaru. In order to guarantee it continued safe operation, CALL NOW 1-855-985-0144. By neglecting to call now, you will be responsible for paying all repairs out of pocket."

No sender name, address, or business license information, just a phone number.

Immediate Response Required - warranty on home loan.

- Stroudsburg, PA, USA

Multiple letters stating “Attention: My Name

It is important you contact our office at 1-877-671-1027 upon receiving this notice to avoid any unnecessary delays in your coverage before 2/13/24 this notice is to inform you that the property’s warranty at (had my address) secured by (correct lenders name) may be expiring or may have already expired and then continues on about failure to call and prevent a potential lapse of coverage could result in you being liable for all costs associated with any home repairs…..

Ends with we “we reserve the right to revoke your eligibility for service coverage after the expiration date

- Alexandria, VA, USA

I received a letter by mail saying : “ Please call 1-800-851-0673 with VIN and current mileage before 12/13/2022 Our records indicate that you have not contacted us regarding the vehicle service contract on your vehicle You are receiving this notice because your factory warranty has expired or may be about to expire “. The timing was just when my 1yr service was due on my new car making me believe I missed my required service apt.

- Clear Brook, VA, USA

Received postal letter with no return address that pretends to be a lender and says that my property's home warranty may be expiring (there is no home warranty as there is no home on the property). George Walker is the name signed on the letter..

- Woodridge, NY, USA

I keep getting letters from these scammers about my extended warranty. It was at first unnerving as I have an extended warranty but now I know they are scammers.

- Philadelphia, PA, USA

I occasionally receive letters from "Home Warranty Division" stating my property's home warranty "may be expiring or may have already expired". I have never had a home warranty. No doubt this is a scammer. The letter states to "Please respond by: December 18, 2023". The Notice Date is November 27, 2023, Contact Phone 1-800-705-9301. The postmark on the envelope shows it was mailed from St. Louis MO. It is presorted standard mail with U.S. Postage Paid Permit No. 5497.

Got a similar letter in the mail, for the first time. The warranty "expiration date" is 5/8/2025, when the letter was delivered on 5/1/2025. This scammer appears to have my full name and address, but hopefully not much more (e.g., the home warranty customer ID on the letter was fake).

Definitely a scam.
My letter does not even read "Home Warranty Division", it does not even list any company name. But it says that it is secured by "[my mortgage company]".
They also write "response to this notice requested".
The fine print in the bottom of teh page says they are not affiliated to my current mortage company.
Big scam, no doubt
