• Date and Time: Approximately June 4th 6:20 PM to 7:00 PM
• Location: 225 Webb Drive, Mississauga and BMO bank in Square One
Details of the Scammer:
• Man with an Italian accent
• Tall
• Wearing a white shirt
• Appeared to be around 30-40 years old
• Claimed his name was Antonio
• Driving a white BMW SUV with a black interior, had Ontario license plates
• Mentioned that he lives in Milan.
Incident Description:
• The man approached claiming he needed directions to the airport and did not have mobile data.
• Showed him the directions on Google Maps and had a conversation.
• He claimed to be an Italian fashion designer and mentioned he was just present at Harry Rosen in Square One, representing the brand “RC Collection.”
• Said he had leather jacket samples but could not take them back to Italy because his luggage was full and he would need to pay tax if he brought them back.
• Stated he needed to pay a car rental fee of $1611 but only had $300 in cash, as his credit card (an AMEX) was locked.
• Went with him to the BMO bank in Square One and withdrew $1300 from the checking account.
• Paid him $1350 in cash.
• He promised to pay back 1000 euros.
• Received six leather jackets from him.
