I subsequently made two payments via credit card — one for $1,400 and another for $1,649 on different dates. After that, I requested a detailed invoice and the bar license number of the attorney who would be representing the trademark filings. This is a common practice when dealing with intellectual property matters to ensure legitimacy.
When I received the documentation, several red flags immediately stood out. The materials included a blurry logo, inconsistent formatting, and a bar number that appeared to be associated with a health professional rather than a licensed trademark attorney. At that point, I began conducting further research.
Through Reddit, I discovered multiple user reports warning that MyTrademarkZone.com was a fraudulent operation. Others shared similar experiences, including financial loss and deceptive practices. I also searched on the Secretary of State of Virginia (since they stated that is their home base), and there is no business registered there.
Concerned, I reached out to the attorney whose name and bar number had been listed in their documentation. Fortunately, he responded and confirmed that he had no affiliation with the company. He was understandably upset that his credentials were being used without his consent or knowledge.
I confronted the company, but they deflected responsibility and claimed they could assign a new attorney if I paid an additional fee. They attributed the previous "mistake" to a clerical error. When I insisted on a full refund, the representative abruptly ended the call. I followed up with a formal request for a refund via email, which has yet to be answered.
To protect myself, I have reported the charges as fraudulent with my credit card issuer and initiated a dispute. I’m sharing my experience in hopes of preventing others from falling victim to this apparent scam.
