I was contacted on my cell phone, by James Elliot Smith. He left me a voicemail stating it was regarding a serious legal matter. I called the phone number left on the message, which was 844-599-7676. James Elliot Smith stated he was a mediator for the Law firm Humphrey's and Associates out of Los Angeles California. He stated I was going to be served by the end of the day by a processor and taken to court, I'd have to pay a total of $8,844.32 with attorney fees and court costs included, or settle for the amount of $5,344.32. If I was to go on a payment arrangement plan, he was requiring $1,336.08 down immediately. I informed him all I could afford was $300, which I paid using my bank debit card. I was to contact him again next week at the following phone number 213-329-3071 to pay the remaining balance of $1036.08. The only information he would provide me, this was for a Citi Bank account, this account is no where in any of my three credit reports, sadly I didn't find this out until AFTER I paid the $300. I fell for the scare tactic of being taken to court.
