Customer received call from an individual claiming McAfee stating that the customer was owed about $400 due to a settlement they reached with BBB. Customer provided banking information and the scammers supposedly deposited $4000 then drafted $3600 because they had made a mistake and deposited more money so they kept drafting $3600 from her account but the promised $4000 was never deposited. Customer has notified bank and credit card, both accounts have been frozen.

I have a Mcafee security suite installed on my computer. On January 20, 2020, I received an E-mail purporting to be from McAfee stating "Action required for your McAfee protection. Download now". The McAfee logo was displayed. The language used would be familiar to a McAfee subscriber. I have never received any similar messages from McAfee. I contacted customer/technical support for clarification and verification. I was informed that this is a "scam,ignore, do not open, delete, do not click on anything, this is not our e-mail addres." I checked my McAfee secuity installation, which appears to functioning normally. Apparently, scammers were/are attempting to gain access to computers held by McAfee subscribers. I have notified family and collegues, FTC, and AARP Fraud Watch Network, of the potntial of a scam.

First the scanner claimed I had a McAfee that was going to be automatically renewed for 399 on my debit unless I called to cancel. Then they said I had viruses on PC. Obtained all my personal info pretending to check if was attached by virus. Bank info, on line accounts like PayPal, etc. Also got my SS.and purchased off of Walmart. Never hung up all day. Kept me in hold.

In July I purchased a McAfee anti virus security key and when following the instructions on the back of the card I was told to visit mcafee.com/activate and enter the id on the card. When I did that a pop up message came on the screen telling me that the info was not correct and to contact them by phone at the number on the screen. I called the number and was informed that the info wouldn't work and was coerced into purchasing another security program from them for $400. I purchased with my credit card and thought everything was fine. I was told if there was ever a problem with my pc that a representative from the company would contact me by phone.

I received a phone call from a representative from McAfee telling me that my pc had been compromised and while on the phone I gave him permission to access my computer. While he was speaking with me he said that he could no longer assist me and would have to refund me for the security program I'd purchased in July. He told me that I would have to follow the prompts on the screen and answer each of the questions exactly right in order for the transaction to go through. The screen went black and there was small writing at the top. The first thing that I noticed was that my name was spelled incorrectly. I was to reenter my name and the amount of the refund. As soon as I typed in $400 it immediately changed over to $4000 and the representative got upset stating that I had messed up the transaction and now needed to go to Target and get several $200 Target gift cards to reimburse the $3600 overage. I told him that I did not feel comfortable doing that and he should just withdraw the $3600 from my account. He told me again that he could not do that. In the meantime I had a friend contact my bank by phone and we found that not changes had been made to my balances. The representative from McAfee would not allow me to get off of the phone until I had agreed to go to Target and he wanted me to stay on the phone while I made the purchases. I contacted my bank and changed all of my accounts but I am still locked out of my pc.

These people are pretending to be McAfee, rather they are not. This happened when i was trying to install McAfee on my computer and i landed on to this website https://w-mcafee.com/ and they took remote access of my computer, said there was something very wrong with it, and that i had to pay to fix this. If not, my computer will be hacked.

They also charged me $250 for the same. I have reported this to my bank. But i also wanted to report these scammers to ScamPulse.com as i feel that others should stay safe.

This website is using McAfee trademark, logos and pretending to be McAfee. The seem to be scammers. It all started when i was trying to activate my McAfee Antivirus and i don't know how but i landed on to this website, and they just took over my computer while i was chatting with them on their website. After this they started to threaten me to pay money or else they shall not loose the access to my computer.

I feel so scared and i want to report them.

These people are using McAfee trademarks and logo, they took the access of my computer through a link via chat session when i was trying to install my McAfee antivirus. Started demanding for money to get out of my computer as well. They seem to be scammers, which is why i wanna report them.

Purchased the Total protection computer security from McAfee on October 10,2018. Unfortunately my computer was under repair and I didnt have an opportunity to download the product until February 14,2019. After many day of trying to download per the link they sent me, I called to get some assistance. When calling they checked to see if I had an account with them. They looked by my name and phone number and could not find anything. After being transferred a SEVEN times, I was finally sent to a level 2 supervisor that tried to find my purchase by credit card number. Upon entering my card information the system repeated itself over and over, then telling me my card was invalid. On my bank statement, it reported the charge using the exact card I had entered. After many attempts I was transferred again, after a long hold, to another supervisor who asked that I send the email I received with the download link. When he came back on the line he stated the link was legit but defective. But because they couldn’t find my account there was nothing they could do and I clearly didn’t know what I was doing. After all the ridiculous craziness, I calmly stated that was fraud and I would be reporting them and hung up.

On July 02 , 2018 I attempted to install a McAfee antivirus

software program into my computer. I googled the www.mcafee.com/activate website and was asked to

enter my Product Key into the space provided. I then clicked on continue. A page showed up saying

my Product Key was accepted but there was a problem with my computer and I have to call on +1-833-226-5400 I was then directed to follow

instructions which resulted in you controlling my computer.

I was told that there were forty nine other entities controlling my computer and that you, for $599.99,

could clean my computer and provide security for five years for all my electronic devices. I accepted that offer.

Later a technician from Apple Tech Support told me that this was not how Mcafee did business.

I hired a computer repair technician who came to my house. He told me this was bogus and a common scam.

He said there never had been forty nine others controlling my computer. He cleaned up my computer and removed unwanted programs.

He told me to cancel my credit card and change all passwords.

I called my credit card company, had them cancel my card and dispute the $599.99 charge.

From Them I received no service or benefit. In fact I had to spend $100 to clean my computer.

I request you Guys to Please Investigate and Cancel the Toll Free Number, Because they miss using you services. I am also going to report to Local Police and BBB.

I received a call from young man, I presumed he was from India. He said there was a mistake and my bank account had already been charged $4.and some odd cents for computer tech work. They needed information to refund me the money. I told him if even a cent was taken out of my account without my permission I would be contacting authorities over it. He tried to keep me on the phone but I said, "I'm going to check my account now, and will be contacting law enforcement if any is missing." When I checked my bank account there was nothing gone. I then called him back but he hung up on me.

As I was telling my girlfriend about it, she got a call on her cell from the same phone number.
