We just got scammed by non-other than McAfee.

Yes.you read this right. our horror started on Wednesday night while i was on my laptop. a pop-up appeared saying i had 45 days too renew my mcafee.l did think anything of it until later. i do not have McAfee on my laptop but i do have it on my desk top.

following so far.

i received an alert from PayPal that a charge was done for $249.95 for "McAfee Advanced" Well i did not order this so i immediately contacted McAfee at the number provided in my email notice: # 18337663241. i spoke with Jerry Gallagher. was advised that timeframe to get refund. had expired on same day i was talking to him. Thursday- i know it hadn't been 12 hours but on with story

now it gets good -

we tried several times to get my refund with no luck. now he tells me he needed to bring in the billing. department. the new guy still using Jerry's info on caller ID began to start a program on his gateway that would transfer funds back into my acct. i needed to input 3 pieces of info

first: name

second:,refund amt -$249.95

third: amt of transfer

time he proceeded to feed me another line of BS to explain why my laptop, with all my banking ,etc was still connected to his gateway, : reason was refund wasn't completed..my laptop was constantly updating -screen was blue with words. software updating,do not turn off system. you've seen this before?

at this point he explained i would see 2 deposited. (60.00 for inconvenience) (249.95) -

amt of the first transfer : i was advised to enter 60.00, which i did.

immediately his gateway removed the period and did $6000.00 transfer to my acct?

i tried to explain to him what happened but he ignored me and i couldn't do anything. i had no control over my system. so basically i just sat back and watched in awe as he screwed up my acct.

well it gets better or worst depending how you look at it, are you still with me so far.

we tried several time to correct issue with no advel. by now it was after lunch.. he wanted me to go to our bank. well i have broken leg so my husband had to go. Jerry told him to go to our bank and lie to get 6000.00 out. My husband didn't think or he would have asked where money was coming from checking / saving when he got to bank,. but we were advised that both banks had been talking to each other..and our bank asked no questions.

Next he wanted my husband to go to Wal-Mart and get $500.00 gift cards. they refused. Then Jerry had my husband to go to Target to get Apple gift cards. Next he went to Sunrise to get bitcoin.. My husband thought he was finished running around town, so he came home. of course he was pissed cause he was running around all day!

"jerry or jack" said the gateway kicked back $2500.00 into our account.

another day wasted just to get $249.95.wow again their gateway had closed. Jerry promised to call back next morning,, Friday, i had to reach out to him but he immediately called me back claiming he had called my husband's phone but got no answer..of course my husband's phone was off but mine wasn't. anyway he proceeded to want my husband to go back in town to get more gift cards. This is when my husband went the FK off. I've never seen him so angry. i was still talking to "jerry" when my husband contacted the fraud dept at bank.

he was advised to turn laptop off, hang up phone, etc. basically disconnect all contact.

we went to bank next day to file official fraud report. funny thing bank said this was common with McAfee. what?

they cancelled our account, credit cards, debit cards. they opened new acct and transfer what funds were left into new acct. only downside waiting. 7-10 days for new cards

bank advised us to file police report which we did. that's where we're at. ready for Grand total?

8000.00= $6000.00 + (2) $1000 cash advances on credit card.

Now it seems that none of my efforts were not heeded the first time i file. I called ScamPulse.com but no complaint on file. Heard nothing from police, fraud dept., online fraud, mcafee, WFMY news 2. No one has anything. Guess they thought this was a joke. But I'm being honest. Thanks for reading.God bless????

McAfee claiming to be an anti-virus company. Yet, even after purchasing and installing, I continue to get McAfee pop-ups that I have malware, trojan horse, etc. and need to purchase more. I cannot uninstall the program from my devise! Everything I have tried has failed because McAfee will not allow an uninstall! McAfee is the malware and the trojan horse!

I got an email from McAfee a saying that I had used their service and they were going to take out the amount as previously stated. I called the number and was met with bullying hostility insults and too personal questioning. He told me nobody would listen to me I was a loser and I should go die or rob a bank.

Got disturbing email saying McAfee was auto deducting 579 for virus protection. I immediately called the number. Actually talk to a person who wanted to know if I wanted to renew. I said absolutely not for $579 plus I'd already renewed with McAfee for $149 in October of 2024. He sounded foreign, possibly Indian, the email was obviously not legit. However it's still upset me. It appears that nothing has been charged to me but had I agreed it probably would have been.

I got an email from Samuel Sundqvist [email protected] that was an invoice for McAfee activation fee of $698.96 since the trial period had supposed ended. I was to phone 1(866)906-2958 if I wanted to cancel. I phoned and told them I thought it was a scam because how could they have charged me for this without my card information. He said the information was from when I bought my computer and the only way to cancel the transaction was to do it on my computer, which I found very shady and told him so! However, I was stupid enough to believe enough of what he was saying to do dumb things! I did give my phone number, date of birth, the last 4 of my ss#, and my address and and the name of my bank as they said this was the only way I could get this money back! Finally, I just did not buy this and I got my husband involved and we ended up closing down my computer and hanging up on the caller! Pretty sure I’ve been scammed, even when it felt like a scam!!! I feel dumb!

I received an email from my "bank" saying money would be taken from my account with an invoice number, $682.99 as an auto debit. I called 808-308-6830 and spoke to foreigners who told me they had sent $50,000 to my bank, and the merchant name is Better Business Bureau. They told me not to look at my account, but to withdraw $20,000 and send it back to them through a Bitcoin machine in a Parmar gas station in South Charleston, WV.
