I browsed websites like zillow.com and apartments.com to find apartments and this website locayt duplicates previous listings with much lower prices to lure in potential tenants into applying for apartments that are not even vacant

Be extremly careful with locayt.com they dont even have a phone number to contact.

They are passing themself of as the Retail Agent of the property they found from a different rental site

Also the Address of the apartment is now not in the downlode

They kept pushing to see the property you must fill out the a pre screening app. which cost me $49.00 and request a copy of my drivers license

Now they have all my information. License Number SS Number, address. My full name and I changed my debt card number as of today.

I requested a refund and to delete all my inform. I can only do in they link http://www.locayt.com/Rentercontact

I try fill a refund request and it would not take my request.

There was a property on Redfin app for rent, and it's information was through Locayt, were you go through a "screening process" to view the property, charging $49.00 dollars.

The process takes you to their web site, were they ask personal information, so they can "review you" for their "screening process".

Every Inquiry was done by an AI assistant.

I never got an answer.

I was on Redfin trying to find an apartment and found a listing that needed me to apply on locayt. It’s been a week and I haven’t received anything. I tried calling but it goes to a robot.

I found a listing on Redfin for an apartment that was in a popular location and a couple hundred less than what it would normally rent for. The only way to schedule a showing was to pay an application fee of $49.00. I received a follow up email saying my application was received but the property was not actually for rent - I reached out to a local realtor. I looked at the listing, and the property history showed the unit had been listed and reslisted several times within the last couple weeks. But the property was not up for rent - per the owner. 41 Central Street, Concord, MA 01742

House was listed for rent on Redfin, after I contacted them through Redfin I received a text with a link to fill out an application with a $50 fee. I receive an email after I filled out the application but have not been able to get an hold of anyone, and now they have my social security number.

Advertised properties do not exist. Customer service is non existent, they tell you to re apply and pay every time you try to schedule a viewing for a property and you can NEVER schedule a viewing because this is a giant scam.

There was a house for Rent posting on Redfin that seemed like a too good to be true deal. I inquired about it so I can schedule a tour. Automatically, I receive a text message to submit a "Pre-Screening" Application. I was suspicious because that's not required generally for a tour. The link they sent was from Locayt which wanted a $49.00 fee. The person from Locayt who texted me said his name was "Adam".

On both Redfin and Rent.com there was a house for rent at an affordable rate. I checked the website of locayt.com and it looked legitimate and I applied quickly because realty has been going so quickly around here. I received a notification that my husband needed to apply as well and so we both did and paid the $49 fee. My husband received a text and a follow up email stating that it was a third party and that a leasing agent would be in contact. Then, I checked the company through Google and sure enough, multiple threads appeared about it being a scam. I feel so stupid and angry. I'm hoping there's recourse. $98 is no small change for us and we would like to recoup it.

Posted rental listing in Gloucester, MA on Redfin.com, Realtor.com, possibly other sites; listing directs interested parties to schedule a showing at showmojo.com/lrt/4bcfa930db which then leads to a 'pre-screening' on Locayt.com with a $49 fee paid by credit card, claiming "At Locayt we value your time and have a pre-screening process to ensure efficient scheduling. To avoid no-shows and time wastage, we kindly request serious applicants to complete a pre-screen application. Should you advance as a rental candidate, your initial fee will be credited toward the rental credit report fee"
