A man called and said he was from my phone carrier, Visible. He had all of my account information and didn't ask any personal details. He said there was someone that tried to switch my phone to T-Mobile and said I should enact 2 factor authentication. He sent a code and I read it back. Afterward, I thought the code was suspicious and suspected a scam. I immediately contacted Visible to see if it was legitimate. They advised to change my password and lock the sim card, which I did. The scammer then was allowed to transfer my phone into a new phone bought with my credit card even though Visible was supposed to have a fraud alert and I did what they advised.
