They advertised a purebread Ragdoll kitten for $700 with free shipping and $50 to then deliver to your house. Once I signed the contract and paid with Zelle which they only offered Zelle, western union and moneygram as payment options they then told me that the shipper needed a fully refundable fee for a special crate since the kitten was crossing state lines to regulate temperature and I would be contacted by shipper to discuss. Then VA Pet Relocation contacted me and requested $950 for the special carrier that they would pay me back after the cat was delivered in cash or with a credit card. I was suspicious at that point and noticed that both the shipper and the breeder signed their emails Thanks and waiting. I offered to pay with a credit card but got a no thank you back. I complained to breeder and got a brisk email back telling me not to worry I was getting free shipping and they do this all the time. I asked the shipper to call me and and they explained it was just so they didn't lose their equipment. I said my Zelle was frozen and I needed to use a credit card and they said no thank you. I then went back to breeder to ask if there was another option and offered to use my own shipping company and or come pick up the kitten but they stopped replying. Then my friend found similiar complaints for the breeder on the website. I am out $750 but at least I am not out another $950 on top of that.

Scammer appears to have several domains listed with Ragdoll kittens for sale at a cheap price of $700. There is a contact form, which after filling out, the scammer emailed me back promptly, with a lot of convincing information about the kitten, and some questions about the prospective buyer's home environment. There was one sketchy proclamation of: "Price: $700 (FREE SHIPPING). Free shipping Coupons for this week ONLY. BUT WHY CHEAP? (We're giving discounts because we're expecting our new litter so we want to sell them in order to reduce the workload since we both have other jobs. We also want ragdoll loving families to have an opportunity to own a kitten now. Our kittens have great temperament and lovely personalities with impressive pedigree. Our Kittens are 100% purebred. "

They ended each email with "Thanks and waiting."
If you have ever purchased a kitten from a breeder before, this will ring alarm bells right away. A lot of work and planning goes into raising pedigreed kittens and this is a very cheap price for what is involved. I went along with it to see how far they would take it, and they sent me a sale contract. The only options for payment were Western Union and Moneygram. Neither of these offer buyer protection, so I requested PayPal goods and Services as the payment method, offering to pay the extra 6% fee. It was at that time that the breeder stopped responding and ghosted me completely. Some of the domains I found that look very similar to the format and are registered at the same zip code in Fairfax VA:

Please be careful out there people! The scammers were not able to extract any money from me but they did get my full name and address, and I am kicking myself for not being more careful.

They have at least 2 websites saying that they are cat breeders. I filled in the contact and next thing I know, they were sending me a sales contract and "waiting" for a Western Union payment that they could pick up in person. I wasn't given any options for payment other than ones that don't offer buyer protection of any kind. When I didn't send the payment right away and asked for more information, they never got back with me. We called and got voice mail. I eventually sent them an email and stated that I could drive over in person and pick up the kitten and pay them at that time.
