I had been looking for an online remote job position and filled out a couple of applications online through indeed. The above place of business emails me and tells me that they got my application from someone else. They said they were looking forward to working with me if I wanted the opportunity. They told me that the job was called a parcel inspector. And that I would be getting paid $4,000 a month. And that all I had to do was receive the package log on to their little dashboard verify the package information was correct print off a label and then take it to a local ups/fedexstore to ship it off. Told me that the probation period was going to be 30 days. And that I was not going to get my first paycheck until then and then it was going to be bi-weekly. I did a Google research. Found out that not only was the address that they provided me was not a place of business called lighthouse logistics but that they were a cold storage unit. Google Mail and my phone app flagged both emails and phone calls as spam. I reached out to every email that I got sent from them stating that I understood it was a scam and not to send me any packages and that I was no longer interested in this opportunity to stop contacting me through email and phone calls. They have not listen to none of my emails or my text messages. They sent me a package even 3 days after I told them I'd never wanted a package sent. I have contacted my local police. I have also contacted the United States postal inspector and should be hearing from them shortly

The company called saying that I was a candidate for a job as a parcel inspector and gave me the duties of the position. Asked if I was name on system. Over 18. Capable of receiving and picking up packages promptly. Call ended with her saying to fill out the application in my spam email.

Received an email:

Our HR received your resume from employment search webpages for Parcel Inspector opening.

This role is Work-From-Home!

Relocation and prior experience in such position isn't required.

They then explained the salary and bonuses I could get, and that a manager would reach out soon. They then sent many emails with videos for me to watch in order to learn the process. Then they emailed and asked for some information such as

1. First and Last Name

2. Address

3. Email

4. Photos of the front and back of your valid government-issued ID.

5. A selfie holding your valid government-issued ID.

I sent the information. They called me many times as well with the same information they emailed me about. There was about three different people I talked to and all very hard to understand with their accents. Once I received the first package I started feeling like it was a scam. First because the package didn’t come as they said it would(in a manufacturer box), second the package was small yet the shipping label is giant. And third, there is no help desk for employees on the weekend, but they expect you to open your dashboard on the weekend. It all just started to look and sound off. I googled the address they gave at the bottom of the email, and it’s at a building that has units for sale(like office units), but they aren’t named as being there. I’ve tried to find the website linked to this company and I get multiple but nothing with the same address. The company also doesn’t have a logo of any kind to identify it from other companies with the same name.

Received two calls with voicemails about a job offer about one second apart and then an email around the same time the second call came through.

Greetings!

This is Ruby Ellington from the HR Department of Lighthouse Logistics. I'm reaching out regarding your job application for the Parcel Inspector position. Please call or text me at (313) 946-9559 to set your interview schedule.

Kind regards,

I returned the call prior to seeing the email. The call wasn’t very clear and it made “Ruby” hard to understand, but if you call the main number it has a somewhat legit sounding voicemail asking you to leave your name and number and a brief message for a call back.

Next day I received an email from [email protected] about the same job.

Dear ****** ****,

I've sent you an information regarding the vacancy with Lighthouse Logistics yesterday.

Please confirm that you have received the email with job information.

If not, check your Junk or Spam folders.

If you didn't get the info please let me know and I'll send it one more time.

I'll be waiting for the response.

While on the phone with “Ruby” the first day I was told a brief history of the company and the position that I wasn’t able to understand due to horrible sound quality on her end. Then I was asked a series of questions such as: are you over the age of 18? Do you have a drivers license? Are you able to work well without a lot of oversight or supervision? Will you be able to pick up packages from different locations such as stores and package lockers? I explained that I didn’t have any documentation showing I applied for anything with her company and she stated that I applied through indeed or they wouldn’t have my info. I asked if this was a full time or part time because I wasn’t looking for a full time position and was told that the job was able to be completed from 5 pm to 9 pm in the evenings. I was then asked if packages were delivered, if I would be available to sign for them. I stated I would not. I was then asked if anyone over the age of 18 would be available to sign for them in my place. I stated no. She then said I would not be a good candidate for the position and hung up.
