A law firm contacted me called Legacy Litigation Group about a suit for money regarding a credit card I never had from banks I never dealt with. They refuse to provide their location or the locations of the banks in question (they stated two banks - one credit card, go figure). They hung up three times when I called to get information about the matter. I smell fraud with this 'firm'. Beware!

Received phone call on 6/17/2026 stating my spouse owed a debt on an old "old store" credit card from 2013, the company identified themselves as Legacy Litigation Group. They explained they were going to put a lien on our house if the $3480 was not paid. They emailed me a PDF letter (attached) but it only has an address and company name, no telephone or website address. Phone number was given to me by the first caller who wanted to deliver a signature required letter to our home. Amount would go up to over $10k if they took the case to court to file the lien.

We have researched online and this is a possible scam according to Google. There is no company by that name by Google search at the address they provided or anywhere again per the search. However there is a Legacy Trust Group at the address, similar but not the same.

We did not pay any money and did contact our local police department.

Left a message saying they were looking to ensure I was home to be served in a legal matter. Called them and they knew my social security number and said I'd be served for a debt from 14 years ago. Claimed to have sent me mailed notices previously when none were received. They seem to have stolen old records and also SSI numbers. They said they didn't want to call me a liar because I didn't remember and I called them a liar, they hung up on me. I called back and asked who they were and they said oh now we're Legacy Litigation Group connected me to the previous guy I talked to, I said this is a scam and he said you'll see when the papers come which I had asked previously and he said 7 pm. No papers were served. I assume they wanted me to pay up before being served.
