I hired Johnny/John Alves for painting service (exterior trim on my house). He assured me he could get the job done in a week. He asked for $600 up front for paint, caulk, and other supplies then a few days later asked $400 for power washing. He power washed a small section of the house and painted a portion of the trim, but did not bother to caulk before starting the job. I asked when he would return to complete the job and got excuse after excuse... his aunt died (week 1), his truck broke down (week 2), he was getting bids for other jobs (week 3). The last and final week I asked for the rest of the paint so I could find someone else to finish the job. He assured me he would bring a crew and be done by Friday. He ended up leaving 3 gallons of paint (flat paint), not the paint we originally agreed to and not appropriate for exterior use. We originally agreed to a higher grade paint and he quoted $56 per gallon but I was told by the paint store that it's only $27 a gallon. He is dishonest, unprofessional, unreliable, and incompetent. This is the second report about Mr. Alves on BBB. He scammed the other customer out of $1500. It's unfortunate I didn't see the report prior to hiring him.
