They called me 4 times in one hour, so I finally called back and they claimed there was a warrant out for my arrest due to back taxes.

- Charlotte, NC, USA

Robo call saying a warrant had been issued in my name yet not giving my name. Asked to return call to the above phone number.

- Amory, MS, USA

I received 3 phone calls claiming to be from the IRS. I know the IRS does not contact a person in the way these scammers do.

- Aberdeen, SD, USA

605 277 8466, This number will leave a voicemail saying you will be arrested in 30 days. When i called them back i was told by "Officer Steven", (they all use Steven) that i would be arrested in a matter of hours. I did end up getting "Steven" to admit that this was indeed a scam and he then asked me what I was wearing. Totally bogus.

- Augusta, MO, USA

The voice mail that was left said that there was a lawsuit against us and this was our final notice to please call back.

- Wichita, KS, USA

I received a call from what sounded like an automated message. They stated that if I don’t respond within 24 working hours that I would be placed into custody of the local cops. I decided to hang up after this because I knew it was a scam.

They left an autble message saying the following:

“_?_?_?_?_ perfect after that you will be placed under custody by the local authorities as there are very serious allegations pressed on you got _?_?_ name at this moment we would request you to get back to us so that we can discuss about this case before taking any legal action against _?_?_?_?_?_?_?_?_?_?_?_?_?_ to reach us is 256560_?_?_60 I repeat 256-560-7860 thank you…”

I have received automated messages stating that there are charges for my arrest due to overdue taxes and charges. They have called multiple times over multiple days. They ask that you call them back at a specific number to resolve this issue with payment and avoid arrest.

They use verbage that is not consistent with the IRS or government office.

- Richmond Hill, GA, USA

Continued calls, all hours of the day... repeatedly. When I call back I get a verizion message ... then one day someone answers. First off, I can hardly understand their English. Then after requesting to speak with someone else, i spoke to a "senior officer of the irs" who tells me I owe almost 3 thousand dollars. Then starts to ask questions like. . How do you file your taxes?

Do you file single or joint? Do you pay someone to file your taxes for you?

At this point I said Whoa, if your the irs wouldn't you already know how I file my taxes? Im sorry I'm trying to be polite but this doesn't sound right.. your not supposed to ask me those type of questions over the phone. At this point the man on the phone got extremely rude and started talking through me. When I pointed this out he said I was the one being rude and I better get a good criminal lawyer because the irs had already filed a lawsuit and my arrest was next.

- Cleveland, OH, USA

This number calls and reports that it's the IRS and that they are calling about my tax filing and that if I don't call back within 24 hours, I will be arrested for being non-compliant and 4 felonies.

Left three messages regarding a warrant for my arrest due to an IRS matter. I could pay today or go to court. When I told them I needed to call my lawyer, they hung up on me.

My wife, *** *** brouth the phone to me because she was scared and thouhgt that the IRS had a lawsuit against her. The people at the 830-572-5876 phone number told her to call 830-572-5851 number to talk about it. After looking up the numbers on reverse phone number on the Internet, I found the number originated as a landline and I print screened the information I got from it. After starting this complaint, the zip code on the web page IS NOT for San Antonio, TX it is 78116 and that zip cod belongs to Albuquerque, NM. So, someone is out there trying top scare people into paying what they tell them is the IRS. Both of the phone nubers are now disconnected, discontinued, or out of service. Merry Christmas! Gotta love it.

Have called my home phone over a year using various threats such as arrest warrants & lawsuits for tax fraud. Speaker is a flat, robotic female voice that sometimes states her name as Officer Susan Smith with the IRS. This last msgs have been incomplete & stated to call 206.278.2162. Know not supposed to, but called out of curiosity. No response at 1st but then a very heavily accented Hispanic male w/quite the nasty attitude answered after lots of fumbling & clicking noises. Loud noisy background w/lots of ppl answering phone calls received where ever they are located. He didn't respond correctly at 1st, presuming running several scam there, so I questioned him with whom I was speaking. No name was given but told me he was with the IRS (not the Internal Revenue Service). I questioned him again stating I didn't feel it was legit call since the IRS does not contact by phone. He got very upset with that statement so I was unable to understand his very poor English response. I stated I thought it was a scam & was reporting the call. He flipped & said that "there is nothing you can do. This is a ??? number and ????? blah, blah, blah in terrible English that I couldn't understand at all. I told him it was *** & would be reporting the call. I believe there is power in numbers so if everyone takes a stand & reports these scams at ALL possible outlets, it will help shut these criminals down. I haven't lost any money, however, many have. My in-laws almost fell victim to a South American claiming to be one their grandsons. Luckily, the actual father of the child called my f-i-law while this was going on & was able to stop him from wiring money to South America.

My husband received a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS. The IRS are filing a lawsuit and sending the sheriff to my house to arrest my husband.

Caller ID showed V20110202000076

When call was returned, there were multiple voices in the background. Threatened to sue them for the harassment and they hung up on me.
