Imposter Mortgage Lender Mail Phishing Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

- Haydenville, MA, USA • Jan 12, 2026

Received a letter in the mail referencing our property and our original mortgage lender (Springfield Inst For Svgs). Letter stated it was an important matter regarding our property (e.g. our home address), that's secured by our current lender. Letter said it was a FINAL NOTICE, and to IMMEDIATELY call the contract phone number on it: 1-888-801-8190 - there was an unsigned "Allocated Waiver" for $199.99 (looked like a check, but is missing any checking account info) attached at the bottom of the letter, which has no company address or email on it. Note: the address referenced in the letter is owned outright, with no current mortgage (was paid off ca. 5+ years ago), and the lender listed in the letter sold the mortgage about 25 years ago to another lender (original bank was bought in a merger around 1999).
