DSS Design Group operates under various business names (DSS Design, 100359453 Ontario Inc, PeelTrim, DSS Container Designs, Millstone & Associates, 1801585 Ontario Ltd). We contacted them from TrustedPros website to renovate a unit (from warehouse/office to a church sanctuary) in Mississauga. Stan Seto and Dave Seto was paid $84,750 based on our contract on the project which was delayed due to issues obtaining the permit from the City of Mississauga within the timeline established by us and the contractor. Once the permit was issued, the contractor began to evade us and continued to promise to resume the work which he began in January 2023 but suspended after the City of Mississauga requested additional information on the permit. The architect was hired through the contractor as well as the fees were paid upfront to the contractor (Stan); we found out later that he never paid the architect. Two months following receipt of the permit, the contractor never returned to the site to continue the work. We had to hire a new contractor to complete the renovation and ended up paying more than double the cost we were quoted by Stan. We have hired a lawyer who completed research and advised that neither Stan or his companies own any assets so it would not be wise to pursue him legally. The police refused to be involved as Stan commenced the work (10%). We believe Stan is knowingly taking projects under the disguise of completing. We have seen negative reviews on his company after we hired him. Stan is not responding to any of our correspondences requesting a refund. He advised us he lives out of town but we verified his address and he went on to advise it's his daughter's home and he was only visiting. We have since verified the home is in his wife's name and he lives with her. We need to warn others that Stan cannot be trusted as he is knowingly taking money and not returning to complete the work with the knowledge that if he starts the work, the police will not get involved and if he is sued, there will be no resolution as his name or company is not owners of any assets.
