I agreed to pay $ 80+GST for the diagnostic of my washer. The technician came with one assistant. I explained the issue (smoke and burning smell) when washing clothes. After opening the top of the machine and spending some time here and there he asked me to pay $ 280+taxes for diagnostic and service. I reminded him that the agreement was only $ 80+taxes for diagnostic. He insisted that I must pay $ 280/ for the diagnostic. I had to pay $ 80+taxes for nothing, no diagnostic performed which was originally agreed.

We called the company to repair an appliance. They came and diagnosed the issue and said they had to take the machine. They had to order parts and install it at their warehouse. They returned the machine and reinstalled it. The next day it was still not working.

When booking the service over the phone they said it would be $80 to come out. The technician would then assess, diagnose and provide a cost for parts and labour to repair. That’s not what happened. They tech came and made us sign a paper and pay for the repair $280+hst by either cash or debit, NO credit. He said he was going to service the drain. Then after several minutes said that we need a new part and it will cost $480. That’s when we said no thanks. So he left without doing any servicing. We paid for no service. Also should mention that our original complaint was not that the dishwasher wasn’t working but that we need help to remove it so we can clean the filter and drain pipe. So they made up a problem to then charge more money. I can’t believe I fell for such a scam. When I called the company to file a complaint, they were so rude and took none of the blame. Said we broke the dishwasher and that the tech is not a plumber and can’t fix the drain connection. Not what the tech said but then also makes me wonder what the $480 repair was. They made no sense and then I gave up as there was no point. We paid debit and will never get that money back. What a terrible company.

On Friday October 4th, my wife contacted The A Team Appliance Repair in hopes of resolving an issue with our Whirlpool washing machine where it was no longer effectively removing most of the water from the clothes during the spin cycle. The representative indicated that they could send out a technician that afternoon for a consult fee which would cost $80. If we decided to proceed to have the unit repaired following the technician's diagnosis of the problem, we would have the option of declining further service at the cost of the agreed $80 consult fee or proceed with the repair based on the labour and part(s) cost as detailed by the technician. Furthermore, the representative advised that if we elected to proceed with the repair, the $80 consult fee would be waived.

When the technician arrived, we described the issue to him and he advised us that the problem was due to a relay switch that controls the motor. As we understood it, the relay switch was not working optimally. This, in turn, impacted the performance of the motor which ultimately resulted in the motor not being able to drive the rotation of the drum at a sufficient speed (rpm). The end result was that the spin cycle was not working as efficiently as it could and our clothes were still wet following the spin cycle. The technician assured us that he could resolve the issue pertaining to the relay switch without the need to replace parts. He quoted us $290 for the repair. He also made us aware that, if in the process of his repair, he discovered that a part or parts needed replacement that he would advise us of this and we could decide whether we wanted to pay any additional costs beyond the $290 quoted. We agreed to the technician's quote and accompany conditions and signed the Appliance Repair Agreement indicating our alignment and providing him with the authorization to proceed as we discussed.

The technician proceeded to complete the repair, advised us that the washing machine was fixed and that we should not operate the machine for about 5 hrs. We paid the $290 ($327.70 incl tax) as agreed via debit and the technician left our premisecomps. Total time the technician was in our house was less than 1 hr. Later in the evening well past the 5 hour period stipulated by the technician, we attempted to wash some clothes and discovered that the problem with the spin cycle had not been resolved.

We contacted the office to advise them that the machine had not been repaired. We received an e-mail the following day indicating that, as per the technician's report, we needed a new drive motor assembly. The first time we became aware that this was allegedly the case was upon receiving the e-mail. We subsequently reviewed our copy of the Appliance Repair Agreement and were surprised to see within the Parts section of the form "Needs new drive motor assembly". AT NO TIME did the technician inform us of the fact that we needed a new drive motor assembly. He did not point this out at the time he affected the repair contrary to what we all understood would be the case if he discovered a part would need to be replaced, a condition conveyed to us as part of the labour quote. Nor did the technician point out that he had written this in the Parts section at the time we concluded the transaction despite having told us that he had repaired the machine.

In conclusion, we paid The A Team $327.70 for less than an hour's worth of labour and the washing machine continued to be inoperative for the same reason that the technician indicated he had resolved. On two occasions, we requested that the company reimburse us the difference between the total payment and the $80 technician consult fee that we initially agreed to pay but they refused on the basis of the fact that the company policy is that they do not refund labour charges. The best they were prepared to do was to replace the drive motor assembly (cost of part $836.75 + tax) less a 10% discount.

So I was told on the phone that the service call would only be $80 but when the gentleman Manny arrived, he said he would take a look and when he took the dryer apart, he said it would be $290 for the labour and that the main board The safety system on my dryer was fried. He showed it to me. It looked fine. He pointed out a bit of residue on the part which I know nothing about and then proceeded to say I had to pay 290 right now debit or cash and that in order to order for the part I had to pay another $600 plus tax upfront. I had to pay for it, and while he was here waiting on my response, I started reading reviews, and there were so many people with the exact same experience. I had Word for Word, but they paid for it and never received the part for the service was never completed.

This is an appliance repair company. Our fridge broke, we called to have someone come and diagnose which we were told would be $80. The repair person arrived, asked my husband to sign a contract and promised to diagnose it and if he could, fix it on the spot. At the end of diagnosis, he said he'd have to order 2 parts, totally $550 plus tax and that the diagnosis fee would be $280 plus tax, not the $80. We paid the fee but chose to wait to order the parts which they required a 50% deposit. I called later to put my deposit down and my bank contacted me letting me know that the email address I used to send the money too was flagged. This prompted me to read reviews of the company in which I saw hundreds of people being scammed by the $280 fee and paying hundreds of dollars in parts only to never have their appliance repaired. My bank thankfully cancelled the etransfer however we will be unable to recoup the over $300 spent on the technician being our house for 30 mins. Very disappointed.

Fail appliance repairs, send non qualified technican to repair your home appliances, first ask for 80 to come to your door then immediate ask for 200plus for repair cost plus mutiple times of actual parts cost. After whatever they repairs, the unit will remain unuseful immediately or after a day or 2. When you recall them to fix the problem, they will scam you more with different excuses and answered you with very bad attitude.

Absolute scam. They come to repair my fridge and did nothing and charged my card. After I called, they said i need to pay 2K more.
