Type of a scam Online Purchase
There were several red flags to me during this communication including the great price, free shipping, an abundance of puppies available, no inquiry about the family adopting the puppy and the breeder wanting a quick sale.
I went online to inquire about dog breeding/selling scams and learned the red flags I had were notorious for scammers. I googled the address “Haven” included in their email to me as *** **** ******** ***** *** ******* ** ***** with Google Maps and saw the house was painted white with black shutters but the pictures with the puppy had a dark house with white window trim in the background. The various puppy pictures of the 15 puppies available also had numerous flooring throughout the house leading me to believe the pictures came from different homes of different litters. They also had the puppy pictured at the beach when the address they listed showed they should have lived several hours from Lake Erie and even farther from the Atlantic Ocean. I then went online and did a reverse image search of the pictures they had on their website and of the pictures they sent me in the email and found that several of the pictures were uploaded to different personal Instagram and TikTok accounts between 3 months and 4 years ago.
I also noted from Google Maps that a cross street near the address was Haven Ave - the name of the supposed breeder. There was also a similar dog breeding website named Haven that sold Golden Retrievers in MO. Coincidence???
After seeing evidence of a possible scam I contacted the ScamPulse.com and found that the information I had procured had been reported by someone else on November 29, 2024, just a little over 3 weeks from my experience.
It is concerning that the scammers are continuing to use the same website, email and phone number (717-596-3307) in an attempt to scam other people. I am hopeful this information will help others from losing money in a scam and to help shut down this operation. I am thankful I followed up on my instincts when red flags popped up and didn’t lose any money in the scam.
