We are a non-profit health center required to renew our SAM (system for award management) registration annually because we receive federal funds. I received an email and a couple phone calls directly following our renewal stating they couldn't process our registration until I spoke with them. I called them back and asked if they were calling from the government and was asked (and given) information that most people could not find on our health center (our tax ID number and other numbers associated with our registration information). I did not give them any credit card info over the phone and yet my company card was charged $299 directly following the phone call. I asked during the phone call if there was a charge or if this was a private service and was told no. The following is the email I received prior to the phone call:

We have attempted reaching you several time to complete your SAM Registration that we confirmed with you and you originally submitted through our online portal. YOUR REGISTARTION CAN NOT BE COMPLETED UNTIL WE COMPLETE THIS FOLLOW UP CALL WE ORGINALLY INFORMED YOU NEEDED. We understand that you are busy, but you do not want this registration not to be processed. Please contact me ASAP so I may finish your registration between the hours of 9-5 EST, and you may call me @ (727)312-3123.

Again, WE CAN NOT COMPLETE your SAM Registration Service until this contact is complete.
