I responded to a job ad on LinkedIn. I was contacted and asked to provide some dates and times when I would be available for an interview. Once provided, I was told the position had been filled but "Mr. Balli" stated he was impressed with my experience and that he needed a personal assistant with my skills. He asked me to confirm my name and address (which was already on my resume) so I did. He then sent me the following email:

Good Morning ,

Firstly, apologies, I have been having quite a lot of challenging times while away I have been busy planning events (fundraisers and charity ball). I am glad it has been a success however I have been unable to handle most of the Admin duties. As well as handling my latest clientele without an Admin Assistant who recently resigned to advance her studies, this has left myself and my team really tight.

Please bear with me for the delays, we are currently quite busy handling more clients than scheduled.

I have been in and out of meetings for the past weeks planning fundraising. I have been doing these all by myself. Due to COVID-19, we have lost a few admin staff and I have been working thrice harder.

I have great news, I have instructed my client to have a check (Funds are for errands while I am away so you do not have to spend your own money.) made to you, you will be receiving the Check today or tomorrow via USPS. Request for the USPS tracking number if you need it., the information below which will be your first assignment.

Below is the transaction summary.

Transaction Details :-

Amount : $2449.90 (Please confirm via email the amount when you receive the check)

Once you receive the check, This is very important, have it DEPOSITED with your bank and let me know when the funds will be available to you. You would not be able to cash the check right away, it needs to be deposited.

Meanwhile I will need you to find out the following for me and send me a few options with prices to choose from.

- Flights from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Dubai International Airport for the 26tht of April to 30th of April(Round Trip, Business Class)

- Type out the information, do not send pictures or link. To make it easy to review and edit.

No preference for airline or Hotel

NB : Always check your spam folder so you don't miss out on any of my messages.

Regards

Today, I received a USPS envelope from "ABB Royal Inc, 2286 N Indian Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92262-3052" with what appears to be a check inside. I am hesitant to open the envelope so I have not. Because I have heard of scams where the scammer sends a check to someone, that person deposits it, and the scammer then obtains all of their account information, this check WILL NOT be deposited. However, I am unsure if I should provide the check to law enforcement. Can you please advise?

Thank you, ***** *.

I got a text message from a Patrice Dawson. Asking if I was interested in a couple different remote jobs to choose from and sent me a link on Teams to chat with a vice president of HR Clark's Williams. Went went through a bunch on onboarding questions and he then stated I pass and I am officially hired. Which sounded great until he stated that his hr team will send a check so I can receive my office gear and insisted on ne using and online banking to print then scan into my account. Once I told him I will just take it to the bank he completely stop answering me.

I paid for a program online that was a program to make money using the internet and internet link posting for large companies. When I paid for the program, I called the people and they wanted me to take out 3 credit cards witch I tried to. I was only able to take out one but I canceled it the next day. When I told them I wanted out, they argued with me and manipulated me and I had to call customer service to get me to refund them the 77 dollars.

I was texted about a job opportunity I could not find evidence I applied for. Following this I was given a reference code for a zoom instant messenger interview, and told I was hired pretty quickly. I had a weird feeling about how quickly I was hired, how informal the interview was, and how impersonal it was. It was mentioned that I was going to be provided a check to pay for the software, and laptop I would be working on. I know this is how scammers get people’s account information after doing some research following the interaction. I was told to meet with the person hiring me tomorrow morning for paperwork. I think I will try to video message her to see what the response is.

I have received the same message randomly:
“Hello Good morning, I'm Choe Felder from Scatec ASA, currently reaching out to you in regards to your resume approved for the Remote Data Entry Clerk/Administrative Assistant position with a pay rate of $35.75/hr. Reply once you get this so an interview can be scheduled. Thank you!”

I went on my indeed profile to see if I actually applied and i can’t find it. I also went on this company’s website & LinkedIn to see if there is a job posting.. nothing. Im not responding…actually i May just to have a little fun lol

Emailed about a job I did not apply for. Impersonating a legitimate Mosbrook Design employee. Conducted a text interview through Secure Wire. Offered a job the next day with requests for banking information. When I asked to speak to someone, a woman called pretending to be the Mosbrook employee. She became irritated when I questioned the validity.

The scammer contacted me through a text message and suggested that we use Microsoft Teams to communicate. The scammer did a fake interview through Microsoft teams and gave me a fake job offer. I accepted the offer thinking it was legit Ament . The scammer sent me a 4200 dollar check through email and gave me instructions on how to cash the check through mobile deposit and distribute the check through cash app to buy computer equipment for the task. Then they sent another fake check for 7200 dollars asking to do the same thing with instructions.

I got an invitation to interview via text a few days ago, I’ve had 2 interviews so far, although I’ve looked back through all my LinkedIn applications and my email and text messages and I can’t find any record of applying to this company. One of the interviews was conducted by a 20-year-old at the City College of New York which was a bit odd, and when I looked at the company's address it is just listed on their website as "Midtown Manhattan." They've reached out for a 3rd interview although I now believe it is a scam and that they will eventually ask for some sort of personal information.

I received an email stating it was from Tyler Thompson Ventures which I applied to the open position on Indeed.com. The email proceeded to say that a certified cashier check would be sent to my address and I could deposit it. Then I was instruction to go to a my banking institution. As far as a check is concerned it is somewhere in Post Office facility. I am to nervous to accept the offer of employment. I check the address on the offer letter and it is a run down auto body shop. I am out No Money. But aware of scammers.

I have been applying for a lot of Data Entry Clerk recently. I received a text message from Tara Silvermann inviting me to interview on an app called Signal. I was told to contact Melissa Coleman to conduct the interview through the app. We went through 3 sets of standard interview questions. I was told that I will be paid to set up my own mini office at home. I am set for a scheduled appointment tomorrow through the app as well. I will see how that goes but I am quite skeptical.

This company want you to deposit a fake check into your account. The amount is around $1350.00. Once you have deposited the check into your account, go get 2 American Express gift cards. Scratch off the number in the back of the gift and email them the card information, This action will put your account in the negative of $1350 and any additional fees that will come.

I was contacted through email, then Skype text interview. Then was sent the following document. I did not submit the document. I did share information like my name, phone number, address, and my bank name, and email address. I did not share any information about myself any further than that.

I had an interview scheduled for 1:30. I checked in at 1:25. About 1:32 the person appears on my zoom meeting app and then clicks off. I was waiting on the phone for 15 minutes before he dismissed me from the meeting. I thought maybe he had a important call or something but he never introduced himself or acknowledged me in any way. I was left feeling like maybe once he saw me I was age discriminated.

This job contacted me offering me an at home job, with a proposition that honestly sounded too good to be true. After receiving questionable items from this company, I then began further investigations myself finding out they may actually be using stolen credit cards to purchase and resell illegal items. I’ve read claims saying this company will harass workers, and they’ve even taken money out of the accounts of a few as well. Telling us we have to wait a 30 day probation period before receiving any kind of payment, some workers reached their 30 days and received no pay, and were blocked from the dashboard displaying their payment amount.

The company website has sketchy information, does not list clients and overall just seems like they have no idea what they are talking about.

I applied for a job for Uinvestible, I found the job on LinkedIn. The position was a Collections job. The company supposedly offered real estate and investment services. I was supposed to work remotely, from my home in SC. They conducted a phone interview and then called back with one additional question. They told me that I would hear back within 24 hrs. They emailed an offer letter and I-9 form the next business day. I sent the information back and once I “cleared HR” I received a list of “past due” customers to reach out to, with no formal training or script to go by and no company email or phone number to use. They stopped all communications once I posted on LinkedIn about it being a possible scam and the website is now suspended.
