Domain Name Services Reports & Reviews – Page 2 (38)

- Yarmouth, ME, USA

I received a mail through USPS. It was addressed to my website address. Letter stated my domain name registration was due to expire 3/3/2024" and my fee of $265 was due to hold my domain name for 5 years. I remember this same scam from last year.

My small business has once again received a deceptive advertisement from a company called Domain Name Services that was made to look like an invoice to trick companies into sending them money for services they have not provided. In a time where so many small businesses are struggling financially, it is disgusting that people are attempting to trick America's hard-working small business owners into sending them money for a service that they have not provided. Last time we reported this to the FTC and ScamPulse.com the company in question said they would at least take us off of their mailing list, which they have not. I am once again requesting that the FTC and ScamPulse.com put an end to this fraudulent advertising. Any money that this company has received for services they did not provide should be refunded.

Sent email to my elderly mother looking like is was a legit renewal for her personal web site.

- Issaquah, WA, USA

Please see uploaded invoice. I've received this multiple times over the last few years. Almost fell for it the first time.

I received a fake invoice regarding a domain held with another provider. Although the fine print states that the charges only apply if I choose to transfer my domain, is seems quite misleading.

- Millsboro, DE, USA

it was a scam for website registration. NOT the company i ever used. They acted like they are and said i MUST renew or my current domain will be sold. It is registered for over a year still with another company. This company has NEVER had ANY business with my company. And they CANT sell my domain.

- Hazel Crest, IL, USA

I received my domain name under a different company and have already renewed my subscription. This is very suspicious.

- Saint Paul, MN, USA

Scammer send notification to renew the domain name. Domain remains down but the customer services number doesn't work and support email doesn't work either.

Hello, My small business has received a deceptive advertisement from a company called Domain Name Services that was made to look like an invoice to trick companies into sending them money for services they have not provided. In a time where so many small businesses like mine are struggling financially, it is disgusting that people are attempting to trick America's hard-working small business owners into sending them money for a service that they have not provided. I am requesting that the Better Business Bureau look into this matter. An acceptable outcome would be for this company change their marketing practices to a more honest strategy, and all money they have received for services they did not provide should be refunded. I appreciate your attention to this matter.

Domain Name Services sent a letter saying that our website domain will expire unless we pay $265. Our domain is registered and paid for through our corporate IT Team.

Domain Expiration Notice received saying the name was due to expire in a few months. Pay $265 now for 5 years renewal not and save money.

- Concord, CA, USA

I got a paper bill letter today from this company that never head it, saying my Domain is up to renew 265.00 for 5 years that is odd bc first my Domain is not with them, and second, usually domain renews from your site l.ook at reviews at have 1 start everyone is saying the same thing please go there and investigate.

Fake invoice suggested that our domain name was due to expire, and recommended that we change the registration to their service.

I work as ********* for a *** ****** organization. I received a number of bills that were overdue from our PO Box. One of the the pieces of mail I received had an "Open Immediately" notification with a notice of expiration. In the top corner it says "Domain Name Expiration Notice" and puts urgency around your domain expiring. So all signs point to this being a notice to act and not lose your domain with the exception of text in bold in the middle of the letter that says "This notice is not a bill." Needless to say I acted on this with my credit card which was charged and when I tried to call the number on their website it is out of service and so far no response on the email I submitted.

- Webster, WI, USA

I received a letter in the mail addressed to my business targeting my business web domain, all of which is public information. The envelope explicitly states "Renewal Information Enclosed -- OPEN IMMEDIATELY". The letter inside is setup to look exactly like a bill for domain registration renewal, however, one little sentence hidden within a paragraph of text says "This notice is not a bill, it is rather an easy means of payment should you decide to switch your domain name registration to Domain Name Services", which is followed by an invoice to renew the domain for 5 years at the cost of $225, and it requests a credit card number for payment. There is no identifiable information about Domain Name Services, other than their website - www.util.com, and their supposed terms of service on their website - www.util.com/tos. At the very least, this is incredibly misleading and the practice should be shut down immediately. At the very worst, it is potentially a credit card phishing scam.

Received letter asking that the nonprofit transfer its business url to the company. Then, pay a premium to the company for the url that's already owned. Please see attached scan of letter.

They sent a notification to our organization saying our domain name registration is due to expire in the next few months.

My accountant was about to pay for this FAKE subscription renewal notification. The letter clearly threatens "Failure to renew your domain name will result in the loss of your online identity making it difficult for your customers to locate you". This is an outrageous scam and amazed that they can still get away with it. This is a scam to pay this company for the ongoing website service another company is already providing us with. Please do something about it.
