Divergent Marketing Solutions Reports & Reviews (3)

This company is like the other MLMs I have come across and interviewed for. They all claim they are outsourcing the marketing of Fortune 500 companies, also called Bluechip companies. The calls usually have 1 to over 100 other candidates on the same interview Zooms.

I saw an ad for an open position with Divergent Solutions Inc. on Indeed for an Entry-Level Business Management position in San Diego offering decent pay and not requiring much experience and so submitted an application. I received a text message from them the next morning requesting some preliminary information before setting up an interview. I was concerned both by the speed at which they responded to my application and the manner of response; in my experience, it can take a week at minimum and up to a month or more to get a response to an application, and I have never had a response over a text message. None of the questions they asked were unusual for a preliminary interview - asking about availability, whether I'd have to commute, etc. As they started to describe the role, based on the unusual nature of the contact and the description I began to think that the role was really a call center job and the promise of progression into leadership was a fake out. I decided to block the number rather than continue responding.

Over the next few days, I received multiple calls from a number listed as Divergent Marketing Solutions as well as an email requesting an interview. I thought it was strange that a company would put so much effort into scheduling an interview with someone who has already ignored several calls and text messages. After one call, the caller left a voicemail in what I believe to be an accident where I could hear the interview conducting a preliminary interview with someone else over the phone. I could not hear the person being interviewed very well but the interviewer's voice was clear. The interview was for the same position I had applied to, but instead of being for Divergent Solutions Inc. in San Diego the interviewer identified herself as working for Melbourne Management in the Hollywood area. She also stressed that the role the applicant was being interviewed for was the only role available with the company at that time in response to one of his questions.

With a little research I've uncovered a website for a Divergent Marketing Solutions in San Diego, which has a similar name to the company I applied for but is not an exact match. I haven't been able to find anything about the Hollywood company. I am unsure if this is a scam or just strange recruitment practices, but it's set off enough alarm bells that I feel it should be reported. If this was a scam I was not impacted as I did not disclose any sensitive information in my resume and cover letter and have not responded to further requests for contact.
