Charged my card never heard of them

This company just called me from a 1-478-466-9825 number, which is a spoofed number. I called them back from a different phone number and got a rude, and clearly fake customer service agent who, right away told me "the number I just called had changed?" I started asking questions, like why do they used spoofed numbers, where is their corporate office located, and how do I get my name taken off the calling list. The fake agent got very offended at my legitimate questions and told me to have a nice day, disconnecting the call. This is a corrupt scam. Do not give your personal information to them.

I misdialed while I was calling a number I have used for years, so I thought I connected to the trusted company. There was a telephone offer for a $100 gift card for $1.95 to Walmart, Target, etc. for trying a discount service. I gave him my credit card number and CVV. He said they would send me a welcome packet via email and mail, and I gave both addresses, and I could cancel any time. He said he needed my DOB to ensure I was over 22. I was given numbers to cancel, 1-888-808-6528 and 1-877-230-4476, which did not connect to this "company". When I asked to be reconnected to the company I thought I called they said I would have to call 1-800-555-1212, which I knew was not right. I immediately canceled my card.

On 10/23 I called the number on the back of my credit card to pay my bill. Then an automated voice said "press one if anyone in your house is 50 or older". Thinking this was through the credit card company I pressed 1. Then a young males voice asked me if I wanted to pay a small fee for first class shipping of a information packet and for paying the fee and examining the information they would send a $100 gift card. I was very skeptical and asked a multitude of questions such as "what specifically was this program," "how does it work," "why would they offer this discount" and lastly "how do I know it's not a scam." (Mind you I am someone who is well versed in scams knows to never click on those links offering varying amounts of money, or the phone calls that ask for your social security number, and knew not to cash a fake check from a "potential employer" after sending in my resume. This being said every single one of my questions was anwered with a very intelligent, understanding, kind, and thorough response. When making a remark about my skepticism I was told something along the lines of, "I assure you m'am that we only take the one tine fee of $1.95 for shipping and that taking any larger sum of money would be damanging to the crediblity of our business and therefore counter productive." This man also spoke fluent english that was clearly his first language. Since I was convinced and also did not know that calls could be intersected in such a way, I agreed. I thought they must have been affiliated with the original company I called. I gave him all the usual credit card information and my contact information. He said the package is being shipped first class and that I should recieve it no later than Thursday. He said you can call these two numbers if you have any issues and to cancel the subscriptions. He then thanked me for my time and hang up. I thought at most this was a semi-scam like when you get a free trial offer but have to put in your card info and get charged if you don't cancel and that is how they make their money because many people forget. After further research and evaluation I believe this to not be the case. I unfortunately, fell for this and would like to prevent anyone else from making this same mistake. I am canceling my card on 10/26 and hoping that will handle this situation, but I wish I could have avoided it all together. Best of luck.

I placed an online order to PetSmart on my cellphone. Once it was placed I checked my email for the confirmation. I received an email that said it had my tracking information in it. When I clicked on the link for the tracking a blue box appeared with a phone number I was asked to call regarding my order. The phone number was an 800# but had the exact same last 7 digits as PetSmart which is a 888#. The business at the 800# said they were asking for quite a bit of my personal information offering me lots of discounts and savings, one of which being a $100 gift card to a various stores I could choose from. In order to get the card I had to provide them my credit card # and pay $1.99. I felt like this was a scam because the numbers were so similar and I only received the offer after pacing an order through the internet on my phone.
